Carlos Camejo, 33, was declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue, where examiners began an autopsy only to realize something was amiss when he started bleeding. They quickly sought to stitch up the incision on his face.
.
"I woke up because the pain was unbearable," Mr Camejo told newspaper El Universal. His grieving wife turned up at the morgue to identify her husband's body only to find him moved into a corridor - and alive. Mr Camejo showed the El Universal his facial scar and a document ordering the autopsy.
.
If you are on the jury, just how much is this man and his wife entitled to for pain, suffering, and mental duress?

Let's just make it $50 Million, so as to incourage other doctors, coroners, and morgue personnel to LEARN TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DEAD BODY AND A LIVE ONE.

Dunno, it's weird, but it wasn't anyone's fault.
Actually, except the doctor who announced him dead. Where did he/she their degree? The Ladybird Book of Medcine?

He should just be happy he is still alive. Scary story. One I like to think is not true, but unfortunately strange things happen sometime.

All this was done in good faith, and that has some weight in avoiding a lawsuit.....provided the docs hadn't cut anywhere major, and most likely didn't since he would have bled there, too, I'd say that little cut likely saved his life.....be happy, count thy blessings, and go home with a lucky heart......

First of all, "El Universal" is the greatest newspaper name in this history of mankind... Why dont we have it here in LA?

Second of all, this is the craziest story Ive read in a long time. Damn. I wonder what the expressions on the doctors faces were... No idea how much money he should get. I just hope that nothing they did in the autopsy caused him permanent damage (it didnt sound like it did).

Why is it that every time something happens everyone hollers the word "sue." I am glad that the man woke up in time before the procedure was completed. I am wondering why the man was pronounced dead in the first place. The man and his wife do deserve answers before they make an ultimate decision about whether to sue and who is to blames etc.

I say one million because the doctors weren't deliberately trying to hurt him when they started the autospy. But, I feel he definitely deserves something. I hope I never go to that hospital.
