You've probably done some really nasty burps in your life, without winning a prize for them. But Tim Janus won the first annual World Burping Championship in New York last Friday with his 18.1-second burp, and the WBF claims he's set a new world record.

Janus drank about 2 gallons of Diet Coke and Mountain Dew to take his place in burping history. "I was just trying to condense all the air in my stomach and bring it to the surface," he told DNAInfo. "You just have to force every last bit of air up. It's beautiful, really."

The World Burping Federation aims to promote "belching best practices" while "also seeking to remove the stigma that has become associated with belching in recent centuries." In the spirit of their mission, how long can you burp for?

We were sitting in McDonalds, waiting for the bus to come so we could get to an audition. All of a sudden I heard this sound and I look to my side and see my friend burping. It lasted 11 seconds.

What does being a girl have to do with it? My friend Neena once said "An 18 wheeler was following me so close I could have farted and he would have smelled it. Any woman who says she doesn't fart ought to have her head examined." To which I said "One of the nastiest farts I have ever smelled was cut by a woman. Married couple I knew when I lived in Kansas. He thought it was cute to get her in a headlock with his legs then let one rip. She got so tired of it she just started fighting fire with fire!"

This isn't really an accomplishment I would actively persue,
It doesn't fit into any concept of myself image I'd like to maintain.

The only time I think I might have come remotely close to that was one time the discomfort I had before it caused me to think I was having a heart attack.
