Irvin Gordin has to drive 34,000 miles in his 1966 Volvo P1800S to reach the 3,000,000 mile mark. "It's just a car I enjoy driving," he said. Mr. Gordon spent $4,150 -- the equivalent of a year's salary on his car in 1966.

It is amazing, and just goes to show what is important is how the vehicle is cared for, not mileage. Kudos to him for putting that much are and attention into his car, I hope it lasts another 3 million miles

The sad thing is that cars have gotten so complicated that the new ones will not last that long. Old cars are so much better then the new.

No I've heard equally crazy figures on Saabs as well, that said I owned a Volvo bought it new, nice car the body fit and finish was par excellent, safety was great. The electrical system was however a nightmare from the day I drove it off the lot, the factory was less than helpful, it stranded me in nearly every form of weather imaginable, AAA became my best friend, the parts were pricy and sometimes took way too long to get. I'd bet this is not his only car but more power to him he obviously has more patience and luck with the brand than I sure did when I got rid of mine the body looked brand new real helpful when trying to unload a lemon.
