Better than most human babysitters! The only downside is most dogs can't dial 9/11 if there were an emergency. lol

Pit bulls are ecellent with children and great dogs. My foster pittie is coming to my house this week!

I heard about this recently on an animal program. A "nanny dog" is the name given to pit bull terriers many years ago. Pit bulls were called nanny dogs because they were loyal, caring companions for children.

Yes I think they shouldn't have put pitbull in the article people will immediately freak out. Just dog would have been good, it's not even about the dog it's about the parents.

The problem isn't the breed of dog, it's the fact that a dog can't dog that much to stop a baby from getting into trouble or help it if there is a problem. However, considering the father, the dog is probably a better choice to watch the kid.

Depends on the individual dog. I'll bet most large dogs integrated into a family would do a better job than most humans.

While there are breeds who would pose no threat to the child and would defend a child from an intrduer, no breed can meet the demanding needs of an infant or protect the child from the many hazards in the home.

Such is the problem with drug addicts and alcoholics, their addictions consume their life.

i could see leaving a pit as a baby sitter for a minute or two if you have to go use the restroom or something but in all honesty leaving a child in a dogs care so you can run out to the bar is f*cking ridiculous.
