The Antelope Valley in California's high desert was for years the largest producer of alfalfa in the west. The cities of Palmdale and Lancaster established rural and municipal water districts on the vote of the people. As the cities annexed more area, the water districts expanded with the annexed territory. They put meters on the farmers wells and started charging them for the water they previously got for the cost of pumping it out of the ground. They went from 5 to 6 harvests per year down to 1 or 2 from natural rain, and eventually just ceased operations. A short twenty years later and hundreds of thousands of acres of once fertile farm land are blowing dust and tumble weeds. All perfectly legal.
after all Obama owns the rain!
A bully comes up to you on the playground and slaps the snot out of you. He then repeats that ages old question: "what are you gonna do about it, punk?" If your answer is/amounts to "nothing, sir," EXPECT more of the same.
After the second slap, though, don't blame the bully.
Am I being paranoid, or does anyone else have the same feeling this article is fake? The story seems fictional to me, because I doubt our govt. would waste their time arresting rainwater collectors. Not to mention the sheer number of political adverts and phrases on the website.
I nearly pissed myself at the idiocy of the idea.
Thank God we don't have to worry about that BS here in Texas!
