Great Post S and S! Thanks for your contribution to this thread. You're right the US Government, and Corporations would love to abolish farmers markets if they could to get the public dependent on their mad science food like substances. The challenge they're going to have though is getting the public to comply.

With the exception of certain states in America like Louisiana, Florida, and those places there are not year round farmers markets, however what folks living in Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, and most of the rest of America can do is during the summer months get your food from Farmers Markets, and during that time stock up on berries and things like that, you can freeze that, and make it last through the winter, it's one way to minimize your dependence on the grocery stores in the winter.

Freezing, drying, canning...all are options. I have done all and am equipped to do all...which can actually be done with very little if one knows how.

I was at the Aylmer On. farmers market with a friend from Cologne Germany when 9/11 happened. We had planned on returning to the US that day but the border was shut down. I expected big hassle when we did return from US customs because she didn't have a visa to be in Canada. But US customs was so distracted by the fact Johnny Winter had signed one of my guitars, they never noticed she was a foreigner!
