Lexus No Longer the Number 1 Reliable Car: Why are top quality cars are the ones 'old people' drive?

For many years, Lexus has been ranked the Number 1 reliable car but not anymore. Buick and Jaguar have dethroned Lexus leaving it as the third most reliable car in the world. The updated list of reliable car is now this one:

1. Jaguar
2. Buick
3. Lexus / Toyota
4. Mercury
5. Infiniti
6. Acura
7. Honda

It seems like all of the top quality cars are the ones OLD people drive! Mercury's, Lincolns, Lexus's, Buicks... Driving any of these brands is like driving a funeral home.
 Because top quality cars are designed by auto expert veterans.
Because only old people can afford luxurious, expensive cars.
Because "old" is the whole concept of luxury design.

    I owned a Buick for a few years, it wasn't the most exciting car on the road, but it was comfortable and quiet. It was not super expensive, and it was very reliable.

    I guess. They're big and chromey just like those old cars. I'm 20 and I wouldn't drive a classic car or most of those "old people's" cars you mentioned either, because they don't fit my code. http://www.sodahead.com/blog/...

    IMO Honda would rank as number one based solely on my experience over the last 10 years of trouble free service. Two leased new Accords, a new Civic that was totaled in an accident, a 2007 Accord my son leases, a 97 Civic, and a 98 CR-V with 208,000 miles. No workmanship problems EVER. Also, Consumer Reports declared every model of the 2009 lineup as "Recommended". A first they said in their magazine. But that's my own opinion. Draw your own.

    I purchased a 2003, Buick Lesabre Custom, used, because it was affordable, well made, and get's 30 MPG on a trip and 27 around town. Way more comfortable than driving cross country for a visit with my Mom ands other family, in a cracker box with no wheel base. OH by the way, she's 82, still driving, and guess what she drives? That's right! An 04 Lesabre Presidential.
    I'm only 61 if you consider that old. Many of you will hope to be in my condition when you're my age. LOL

    After you have paid for your home,raised your kids and put them through college you have a little more money in the bank and can afford to buy them.

    "old people" are typically more established, and have been able to prove themselves in the business world, enabling larger paychecks to be able to afford more luxurious items like luxury cars.

    I dont really think its any of the above. Old people, as you put it, aren't looking for the "flash in the pan" car or to "wow" any other drivers on the road. They just want a car that is going to start when they want to get up and go and make it there without worrying.

    the old people like to live on this earth a little longer even though one foot is out the door. they also realize, unlike the younger folk, that they are not invincible.

    Lexus, Lincoln Town Car, Buick, Jaguar - EXPENSIVE.

    care, security, safety, and the chance to see your grandchild graduate from highschool can be priceless.
