in todays economy, yes. particularly if your single. i don't know if he's single or not though because I've never heard of him before.

As long as they are going to school (furthering Education), have a job or are looking for one, and don't move back in to be a slacker who just is a leech and moocher off the parents, there's no shame in coming back home.
Sometimes kids as adults, fall into hard times, and going home is the only option they have.
It's nice to know you can go back home, cuz some folks don't even have that as an option. : (

Yes, if finances say so but I have 3 step children that are over 50 and still living with their mama. Unbelievable. My four children were all independent at 18. Two went on to collage and the other two did alright without. All have good jobs, homes, children and 3 are happy. Can't ask for more.

21 should really be MORE of a cut-off. There are different situations and exceptions but after you're 21 you should typically be transitioning into an independent lifestyle.

I think it's okay to live with them for a while. I mean, come on, you are 18+! Legally you're an adult and it's understanding if your situation is like his, but when you're financially stable, I think you should leave and not take advantage like some people do... Man, that took me a minute to get out, having head colds suck.

Absolutely. Our son stayed with us till he got through his undergraduate program and landed a good job. I'm glad we were there to support him. He's now doing graduate work at Harvard. What's not to love in that?

Normally I'm inclined to say no, but given the state of the economy I'm not going to judge those who have moved back home for financial reasons.

Absolutely but they should be making an effort to become self sufficient.

It is a sad statement on our society, that you are still holding on to the apron strings after you are voting age.

Call me old fashioned but I left home and started working at 15; I completed my GED and then went on to College, from there the Air Force. Kids these days are too timid and lazy, when you stop relying on others to finance your life, your accomplishments will mean so much more than a handout.

I'm 21, still in college, and living at home. A full-time job would leave me almost no time for my studies - so I'm thankful that my mother is willing to have me.

i think it depends on the situation and the maturity level of the young adult.
I left home the day after HS graduation. Had my own apt and car and was enrolled in college and had a job within 2 weeks. I was ready and I never had to move "home" as an adult.
If circumstances were different, it might have been nice to stay at "home" while i finished school.

My oldest son (19) has moved back home with me after 6 months away at college. Decided to change gears and study something else. i'm fine with this... and as long as he remains respectful and appreciative he can stay... but he has until he's done with college to live "at home" w/ me... then I fully expect that he'll be ready to be out in the world.
Odds are my youngest son (16) will want to move away and begin his adult life away at college (most likely out of state) immediately upon graduation... and that's ok too.

I think we are going to see a lot more children staying with their parents. Since the job market is so weak one can not afford to live off a minimum wage job.

This whole "sink or swim the minute you turn 18" mentality is a uniquely modern American invention. I never really understood it (and neither does the rest of the civilized world). Those first few years right after high school are when young adults need the guidance of parents the most. Too many young adults step out before they are ready, and more often than not, it's a recipe for disaster. Had I been smart, I would have stayed at home until about 24 or 25. I could have BOUGHT my own condo with cash with all the money I saved, not to mention I could have gone to college for about two-thirds the cost.
