Legit question. Why are only some religions taught in school and not others?

I heare about Christianity from my teachers and not, for example, Buddhism. Why?

You're in the United States of America. If you were in Iraq, they'd be teaching you that Islam was the one true religion...and you'd be stoned for showing your ankle, YOU DIRTY WHORE.

Religions teach that their worldview is the only possible correct one because their god says so. This makes it incompatible with other religions.

Your teachers tell you about Christianity and not the others because, geographically, Christianity is the most popular religious philosophy where you live. At least that's the best information I have to go on considering it's what you gave and I don't really expect you to tell some guy on Sodahead anything more than that.

This country was founded by Christians, not Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, or any of the others. If you need to be taught a different religion, find where that religion teaches, and go there. Unless you attend a Christian school, I seriously doubt your school teaches the religion of Christianity.

    Because the schooling is flawed.

I don't know what school you attend, but usually any course about religion will include information about the five big faiths: Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Mohammed-ism (aka: Islam). You're being short-changed. There are, of course, hundreds of minor religions and cults that simply can't be covered in a semester course.

I think it has to do with the dominant religion in the country...
I think it's wrong that only some are taught. Either teach them all, briefly, or don't teach them at all.

Assuming any public school TEACHES any religion at all. I don't know of any that do - do you?

I can't speak for the US, but I know it still happens in Canada. I went to a school that was considered a Catholic school, but it's entirely public.
