Lean Cuisine made by Nestle Prepared Foods Co. has issued a major recall on three of it's entrees. Lean Cuisine has said these entrees may have small pieces of hard plastic in them that may cause injury. The USDA made this recall high-risk.

The recall includes entrees: Lean Cuisine Pesto Chicken with Bow Tie Pasta, Lean Cuisine Chicken Mediterranean and Lean Cuisine Chicken Tuscan, all produced from August 18 to October 27. So check your freezer! There have already been multiple consumer complaints and one injury from these frozen dishes.

After the veggie scare and the Mad Cow disease, I am afraid to buy everything. It sucks.

I buy frozen dinners from time to time, but have never bought Lean Cuisine. So I guess I'm safe now. However this kind of thing has happened before and will happen again.

Frozen food plants are trying to save money by not having their lines correctly checked, the only way those dinners hit the market was because they were willing to chance it...they should get sued.

I usually buy whatever is on sale, but still "healthy". maybe i'll try to take more left overs. If this is the only issue, I will probably buy lean cuisine again just in a month or 2.

I don't buy Lean Cuisine. If I buy any frozen food products it's in the form of frozen meats at wholesale, and other frozen goods like vegetables. Occasionally a frozen pizza or something of the sort, but I'm not a fan of processed foods. Too many chemicals, too little nutrition, and the flavor is too generic, there's no rich quality flavor to be had.

Keep in mind though that 80% of the frozen food products in your grocers freezer are all made by the parent company - Schwans (the people with the big yellow trucks with the Swan - it's actually a rolling grocery store with 140 different frozen food products that you can have delivered to your home/door, pre ordered or not. Many of their products are actually good, but not all are so healthy. Best ice cream though!)

Ingesting any plastic, or foreign solidified substance is an immanent health hazard. Just because you don't feel it in your mouth does not mean it's not there. Secondly, if you were to feed this food to a small child or an animal, it may not be able to stop the plastic from doing damage to the surface tissues within the mouth, throat, or even puncturing the stomach. Another danger is in processing these substances via intestinal tracts, as saliva is capable of encompassing and protecting foods from the hydrochloric acid within the stomach and through the passage ways of the digestive system, a sharp enough edge on plastic will still do damage.

Not to mention the molecular structure of plastic is very cancer friendly. This is why you are not supposed to microwave in Styrofoam, plastic, or on chemical treated surfaces. Margarine itself - is only 2 molecules from being a plastic compound, and is thus cancer friendly. It also has excessive amounts of trans fats (unless otherwise stated on the label). Crisco is very similar in the trans fats department.

still buy a frozen meal. This could happen anytime anywhere. One time I was at a nice place in the mall and I found a metal shaving in my enchiladas. When we pointed it out to the manager he wanted to only give me a free dessert. Please- it was a shaving from the top of a can it was all curly and long. I also found a stick in a can of green beans. Any where any time - unless you go pick it and prepare it yourself.

I agree wit lynnseydd. However, that's what scares me most, having this happen to other packaging food! Like frozen food in my fridge ( I only have veggies in there) called back! C'mon the thought of that is only frightening to me; this is madness......

If we gave up everything that ever had a recall we would not be able to eat anything or our kids would not be able to play with any toys if we were to not buy any of the brands that had recalls. I believe that since the recall the makers of the frozen dinners will make more of an effort to make sure that the dinners are ok to eat.

probably still purchase Lean Cuisine. I may be a little more careful in inspecting the package once I open it though. Don't eat them too often, only when the 5lb's creeps back on. Work great for diet control. But, yes, I'll still get them.
