Having done one semi-awkward professional photo shoot and watching countless reruns of America's Next Top Model on Virgin America flights, I can attest to the fact that modeling is not as easy as it looks. However, it's definitely not something that only highly trained professional models can do either.
Parisian fashion house Lanvin, proved this point with their new ad campaign in which they hired ordinary people to model their latest designs. So, it's got me thinking: Do we even need professional models -- or should "real people" be the "real models"?

This "Nine Real People" bugs me a bit. The models we see are real, that really wasn't a debate aside from the obsessive photoshopping, which makes pretty models (the type these companies go for, also not "fake") look unrealistic. Companies want pretty models, and there is real beauty in them, the only fake aspect here is the magazine covers that are so photoshopped that a girl can't recognize herself.
The primary issue is that many models are so skinny that it is unhealthy and gross to look at. The modeling world has gone down a dangerous road, but the girls walking down it are still real. They just aren't healthy, which is the real issue that Lanvin seems to have missed.
And by the way - Number 6 reminds me of Lady Gaga. Take that as you will in relation to this story and Lanvin's supposed plan.
