Here's the deal that many people don't understand. Conservative doesn't equate to racist. I don't want to see anyone held back or promoted based on something so superficial. I want everything from grades in school to promotions to be based on the person that does the best. It's actually racist to think that minority students can't achieve or that some people can't make it on their own. I also don't like people that promote ideas based on race, religion or gender. Stand on your own two feet. I think that's what America is all about.

As much as I feel disdain for the KKK's ignorant beliefs, I could care less so long as they are just cleaning the roadside. There are other KKK groups in other states that have adopted hwys and other state courts have already ruled that political affiliation is not a justifiable reason for denial.

Not only would they be picking up trash, they would also have the right to advertise on the adopted highway. People who adopt highways are allowed to.

My understanding is that they are allowed one small placard displaying the groups name. If they are allowed to do more than that then I would most certainly object to it.

When Clinton was president we were driving through Arkansas and saw the sign, "This highway adopted by the KKK..." and thought it was rather ridiculous then, too. They also displayed black faced little statues of boys with up stretched hands or holding a ring to hold a horse, etc. that are not shown now due to PC.

No - they promote hate and violence. Any extreme group that promotes hate and violence shouldn't be able to promote themselves by adopting stretches of highway. The entire premise of that group is hate. Embracing them is equivalent to disrepecting others. They stand for nothing else.

First I believe the rejection is unconstitutional. As detestable as the KKK maybe, the Nazis were granted the right to march. If the KKK people are willing to keep the highway clean of trash then let them do it.

they are a hate group. Period. They exist and band together because they hate black people. If the group were..say, animal activisits, an Italian, Spanish, German, Irish club..a little league club...a 'we collect Pokemon' club..that would be one thing - but, they exist only to hate and discriminate toward black people...and to spread that hate..it is as simple as that. Their acceptance is detrimental to another group..No extremist hate group should be allowed..it's retarded...how about..a kid porn group..or a bestiality group..they exist at the detriment of others...don't they have rights? where do you draw the line?

And Hells Angels were unified because they all had motorcycles..they may have been associated with other things too..but they didn't come together so that they could intimidate black people - they may not have liked them..but they didn't lynch them...and burn crosses on their yards..they didn't hide under sheets and have meetings about how best to hurt black people...b.s.
