It's an automatic loss, unless they have better grounds for refusal then stated so far.

It is their county, their stretch of road where they live and drive everyday let them clean it up. If this was the Black Panthers the gov would cower and give them no problems even though this is them today...

Giving the KKK the adopt a highway is as offensive to blacks as giving it to Al Qaeda would be to the American public.

Ugh, this is one of those things where by all rights they should be able to but to allow it is just wrong, its morally and ethically wrong so although legally they should be allowed to, morally and ethically screams no way in hades should they be allowed to.

I really don't like having the KKK on road signs, but they are no more racist than the NAACP or Black Panthers and all are from the Democrat Party. http://hamptonroads.com/2012/...

The Problem would be all the signs would have to be white. The Roads would have to be white, so no dividers. No black lines or letters. it would just get messy to many accidents.

Georgia is going to lose money on lawyers to lose the case in court. The KKK cannot be denied. If no other group is denied then the KKK must also be allowed. The only other solution is for Geogia to do away with the "Adopt A Road" program all together.

I disagree purely on the 1st Amendment argument. I predict, should they win the lawsuit, that it will be the dirtiest one-mile stretch of highway in all of Georgia...until the sign comes down...

As much as I hate to say it, If they are a regestered not for profit group under state law they can't really impose this restriction based upon the 1st Amendment, no matter how bad their message.

I'm sure there are other organizations that would like to clean up the highway too. And it IS for them. They're trying to make themselves look better.
  • Resp ★earthb... 2012/06/15 03:09:59

Nemo, you don't know that they are "trying to make themselves look better." They could be actually concerned about the highway or have other motives.
  • ★earthb... Resp 2012/06/15 03:24:09
    ★earthbound_misfit★
No, I don't know, but I sure have a hard time believing an organization like that has any pure motives. And regardless of what their motives are, it would still be giving them public attention. Do you have inside information by any chance?
  • Resp ★earthb... 2012/06/15 03:27:10

No inside info. But I am for free speech no matter who doesn't like it.
