In 2012, it almost seems like an outdated question, but we're still curious: Do you kiss on the first date? A writer for Glamour recently blogged that no one has tried to kiss her since she moved to the Midwest. "In my dating days back in New York City, I literally never went on a date where the guy didn't at least try to stick his tongue down my throat," she writes.

But How About We doesn't think a first date kiss is a must. "I've always been of the belief that if it’s a blind date or an online date, you can take things a bit slower. It’s a little different than going on a date with someone you’ve already met -- you’re feeling each other out, and often it’s the second date that starts to feel more date-y," she writes.

"On the other hand, one of my guy friends once said to me, with utter conviction, that if he doesn’t kiss a girl on the first date it means he’s not interested. And when I think back on my own romantic history, I’ve never had a first date lead to a second date if there wasn’t kissing involved." We'd have to agree that in our best relationships, the kiss happened way early. How about you?

in my personal experience if you don't get to know a person at least a bit before it gets physical the relationships gonna wind up fleeting. If you just want get the ball rolling so you can get to the sack in a few dates though, get a few knotches in the old bed post and part ways by all means go ahead but If you really like a girl my advice is, hold her hand, walk her to her door.

Ultimately, it depends on what everyone is wanting out of the first date. Not everyone is wanting to establish a long term relationship.

My brother had sex with his wife on their first date - - I think they have been married over 40 years now - and had 2 kids.

If having sex on the first date can work out - - kissing is nothing!

Trying to remember...

1) If you have sex on the first date, it is more polite to kiss the lady first.
2) Sometimes you like it when the lady is kept wondering what your real intentions are. So, no sex, sorry: no kiss, on the first date.

I would say no, you should get to know the person very well before bringing any physical feelings into the equation. Get to know the true person they are before you make that leap. Kissing leads to bad (but good) things.

For the most part, I think it's much better to wait a couple days, weeks, or even a month. But there are some rare cases where kissing on the first date is okay. Depends on what kind of person you are and how responsible.
