KFC's secret 11 herbs and spices may be cracked!

One of the most guarded secrets of the fast food kingdom may have been unlocked. Ron Douglas, a former JP Morgan employee who now tries to reverse engineer recipes from chain restaurants, thinks he can create a KFC replica so good that no one will be able to tell the difference. In other words, he has discovered what those 11 secret herbs and spices are. While KFC is not confirming or denying Ron Douglas' discovery, here it is for all you inquiring minds:

— 1 teaspoon ground oregano
— 1 teaspoon chili powder
— 1 teaspoon ground sage
— 1 teaspoon dried basil
— 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
— 1 teaspoon pepper
— 2 teaspoons salt
— 2 tablespoons paprika
— 1 teaspoon onion salt
— 1 teaspoon garlic powder
— 2 tablespoons Accent (an MSG-based seasoning)
You!

The chicken is cooked in a pressure fryer. Originally it was cooked in an iron skillet but due to cooking time it was changed to pressure frying. So, the actual frying process doesn't really matter because pressure frying is such a short process that is adds absolutely nothing to the chicken other than cooking it. Your grandma's the idiot, the herbs and spices mean everything in the recipe, dumbass.

Here is what you don't use< table salt, use sea salt, common black pepper, use tellicherry pepper fresh ground, no all purpose flour, use cake flour or white lily flour. onion is not in it or garlic. Ground lavender gives it that flavor we can't figure out. The ingredients in poultry seasoning work well. Don't buy low grade at walmart or schillings. Their spices are 10 years old before they get to the market. Go to an herb store and buy each herb in small amounts, organic and fresh. Don't slight this. I shop The Spice Hunter on line too. I have read hundreds of KFC recipes online. Study, experiment, Freshness is the key.. Do not use vegetable oil. Brine the pieces in broth with the seasonings you choose overnight, pat dry, then dredge. They say use milk, I use half n half. Buttermilk is good too. For more intense flavor add the seasonings to a dry fry pan, heat and toss for a few seconds. Do not over heat.

Great, now remember to soak that chicken in a brining mixture for at leat 24 hours, and then dry it before you do the flour dredge, the buttermilk bath and the flour and spice mixture.

Your MSG claim is baseless.. In fact, Glutamic Acid can be freely found on meat and Poultry. 95% of dietary Glutamic Acid is synthesized by the small intestine. 35% of Protein in Wheat is Glutamic Acid. "No MSG" claimed product is misleading cause most contain Hydrolized Protien. Salt is replaced by MSG especially on retirement homes. Japanese people often replace salt with MSG, yet still, most are not obese (except for Sumo Wrestlers) and they have one of the highest Life Expectancy.

Most of the claims above is tested on rodents. I doubt it works on humans.

Where's the white pepper and the ginger? Both can be proven to be in the O.R of Colonel Sanders! In fact, Colonel Sanders himself is quoted in Jack C. Massey's biography stating that there is ginger in the famous recipe! This "Ron Douglas" guy clearly hasn't done any research at all, he's just trying to rip people off with his lies... (and is probably being paid by KFC Corp on the side)

Anyway, for the true recipe, you need to go to TCK: www.kfc.forumup.co.uk

the proper temperature and blend of oil IS important. They used to use pure lard, but switched to pure oil.

Chick Fil A switched from peanut oil to canola oil. Bummer, the peanut oil was better.

Does anyone know a sub for Accent I don't want or need for that matter the MSG!
don't want to speak for most people but I've known for a very long time that MSG is not good for you. I'm betting there is not much flavor to Accent.
As for calling PETA why don't you put facts down. I love animals but if PETA gets upset because someone kills a fly on national TV, I think they must be exaggerating - have you ever seen this and is it in America? I don't think we'd put up with that - at least I hope not and I'm not going onto their website and weed thru all kinds of crap to see where they've seen such cuelty

Yeah and it's simple-just use sea salt or salt-no big deal there!

MSG is about as useful as a hangnail on a hobby horse
