Everyone thought that whatever Kate Middleton wore to the royal wedding would set the standard for bridal gowns for years to come. But so far, this is not the case.

At Bridal Fashion Week in New York, designers scoffed at the notion of Middleton as trend setter, especially when it comes to the famous long sleeves. "That dress silhouette already existed," designer Gregory Nato told The Wall Street Journal. "Other designers copied that and had it on the runway right away, but what we noticed though, is that nobody bought it.
"The trend is going the exact opposite," Nato added. “A modern bride is creating an original event for herself. She’s bringing her personality into it. Tea length is huge. Most of our dresses are tea length. If you’re spending a lot of money on shoes, why is it covered by the dress?”
We'll admit that we were slightly disappointed by Kate's dress, though the long sleeves did seem appropriate for a princess. The best part about the gown was how it revealed Middleton's impossibly slim waist and enviable figure (and let's face it, that's what brides care about the most, royal or not).
But for the average bride, long sleeves are a little too old-fashioned -- and not very sexy. Do you agree?

Princess Di's gown was very ugly..
she obviously looks beautiful in it, but I think I like her sisters dress more.
Besides, weddings are different for everyone. Wear the dress you want to wear, not what's "in style".
Do you get my point?
Its a really beautiful gown.
Everyone who I know watched the wedding, loved her dress but wouldn't want to wear it for their own wedding.
