Move over, Angelina Jolie -- Kate Middleton has the thigh-high slit down pat. The Duchess of Cambridge arrived at a "secret engagement" in London on Monday night wearing a cream dress slit to the thigh. But was it more risque than Angie's? You decide.

Other than the sexy slit, the dress was pretty demure from head to toe, with long sleeves and a high neck. It is thought to be a slightly altered design by Roland Mouret, which has been previously worn by model Amber Valetta in 2009 and former French First Lady Carla Bruni. Kate has worn Mouret designs in the past.

Kate paired the dress with crystal-studded Jimmy Choo Vamp heels, which cost about $780. She kept her makeup simple, with nude lips and a smoky eye, and left her hair long and straight, revealing sparkly earrings. The Duchess' best accessory? Her handsome prince. Prince William was reportedly a guest speaker at the private dinner.

Sorry to have to point this out but she will never be Queen. Because she's a "commoner".
She will be called the duchess of something or other. Her title will never be queen because she is not of a royal lineage.

Actually a little research shows that "Princess Kate" is the title she can never have; she may someday be "Kate, Princess of Wales", and if William ascends to the throne as King, she will be Queen, but only as his wife, she cannot remain as Queen after his death. In the here and now she is "Her Royal Highness Duchess of Cambridge", as one of William's titles is "Duke of Cambridge".

no she can never be queen. she's a commoner. Prince Albert was a prince (higher than Kate) but he wansn't King Albert.

Due to her being born a commoner, they modify the title to "Queen Consort", she holds all the power of any other Queen, as long as William lives; their children would be eligible to be King or Queen in their own right and as the rules of succession dictate.

It really is a simple thing to check on, and I understand if you are unwilling to look and find out you are wrong, but I have looked, as I was unsure, and am now done with the topic.

Yes, indeed! As someone pointed out that she would show more leg in a skirt or dress that was above the knee. Oh, well.... It's something for us on SH to react to.

She looks pretty damn fit to me ! If she was doing high kicks it might be inappropriate otherwise she is just using the slit to ease her walking stride. And like so many others have said she looks fantastic so why not show off a little ?
