Kate Middleton Spends $55,000 on Clothes in 6 Months! How Much Do You Spend on Clothes in a Month?

And you thought she seemed like the girl next door. Kate Middleton, aka the Duchess of Cambridge, is thought to have spent at least $54,593 on clothing since the beginning of the year, The Daily Mail reports. Wait for the :47 mark in the video below to find out who's footing the bill!

But it seems like Kate is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. Kate has been criticized for wearing lower-end lines like Zara and for repeating outfits. And when she spends a lot of money on couture, people get mad about that, too!

In fact, according to the Mail, Kate refuses to accept the hundreds of free garments designers send to her every month. Why are they doing this? When Kate wears something, it almost immediately sells out in what has been called "The Kate Effect." Clearly, Kate doesn't feel a need to offer free advertising for anyone!

In fact, when you break it down, $54,593 divided by six months equals about $9,099 a month. That's a lot for regular folks, but when you have black-tie events practically every weekend, like the Queen's Jubilee -- and you're representing the royal family -- maybe it's not so outrageous ...

Bur hey, if I was a member of the Royal Family I'd spend that much too! Everyone would! They're just jealous because she can. Thats why they bitch when she spends too little, and they bitch when she spends too much. I think she looks beautiful, and with the people she has her Sunday dinner with, I'm not surprised she spends so much :o

I buy things one at a time. Like, if I'm somewhere and I see a shirt I like, or a nice pair of jeans, I'll buy it. I don't spend a lot of money though...

First off she doesn't spent anything on her clothes. The British Royal Family gets an allowance, I believe monthly. And that is paid for by the British people. So "it's good to be the King"! Prince William just got something like $30 million as a birthday present a few weeks ago for turning 30 years old. As for me I just buy two t-shirts for $10 a few days ago, puts me right up there with Kate don't you think? British Royal Families money birthday weeks turning 30 years buy t-shirts 10 days kate

Only slightly correct: the Royal Household gets an annual budget - the Civil List paid for by the British taxpayer, but that is to cover things like wages of staff, maintenance of buildings, and not things like cothes etc. Additionally the Duke of Cambridge did not get $30 million as a birthday present - he inherite money left in his mother's will that was kept in trust for him until his 30th birthday (Prince Harry will get the same when he becomes 30).

It will be interesting to see if the Duchess follows the example of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was known to donate dresses and other clothes for charitable causes after a suitable period of time.

I'm afraid as with anything connected to the The Daily Mail (or Daily Fail as it is known to most Britons) this is sensationalst journalism with no perspective and little grasp of the facts. It sould be taken as seriously as you should taxe Faux News Channel.

$0-$50. Some months more. It depends what I need really. Or if there is actually something I want and like. I don't care about fashion. Bras and Sportbras don't last and need to be replaced often so I buy those more than actual clothes.

I buy clothes only as needed. They are way too expensive and the quality sucks. Now if I had Kate's clothes budget, I think things might be different.

Right now I do not need new dresses/skirts/blouses. I need new accessories to keep all my clothes looking up to date. This is where I fall off my budget's wagon for shoes and handbags since I like couture accessories. One good one will make up for 10 cheap ones. Besides, I troll ebay for some nice buys.

I haven't bought new clothes in 3 months, which were 3 pairs of workout pants. Before that, it was closer to 7 months. Of course, if I felt like I had a better figure, I would have more fun shopping and wearing new clothes, so...

What in the hell does Sodahead Living CARE how much a royal in a foreign country spends on clothes?

Why in the hell didn't you post something like this about how much Michelle Obama spent while on "vacations" that US Taxpayer money paid for?

Sometimes more sometimes less. Stop criticizing princess Kate, I love her to pieces, elegant, classy, lady like, she's fantastic. She recycles some of her outfits and I LOVE that. She is the Cinderella that got her fairy tale ending. And doesn't everyone want a fairy tale ending? :)

Depending on what I'm buying and what time of the year. I tend to buy more stuff in the winter than in the summer time.
