Kate Middleton Spends $55,000 on Clothes in 6 Months! How Much Do You Spend on Clothes in a Month?

And you thought she seemed like the girl next door. Kate Middleton, aka the Duchess of Cambridge, is thought to have spent at least $54,593 on clothing since the beginning of the year, The Daily Mail reports. Wait for the :47 mark in the video below to find out who's footing the bill!

But it seems like Kate is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. Kate has been criticized for wearing lower-end lines like Zara and for repeating outfits. And when she spends a lot of money on couture, people get mad about that, too!

In fact, according to the Mail, Kate refuses to accept the hundreds of free garments designers send to her every month. Why are they doing this? When Kate wears something, it almost immediately sells out in what has been called "The Kate Effect." Clearly, Kate doesn't feel a need to offer free advertising for anyone!

In fact, when you break it down, $54,593 divided by six months equals about $9,099 a month. That's a lot for regular folks, but when you have black-tie events practically every weekend, like the Queen's Jubilee -- and you're representing the royal family -- maybe it's not so outrageous ...

Bur hey, if I was a member of the Royal Family I'd spend that much too! Everyone would! They're just jealous because she can. Thats why they bitch when she spends too little, and they bitch when she spends too much. I think she looks beautiful, and with the people she has her Sunday dinner with, I'm not surprised she spends so much :o

I spent 55.00 this week on 5 items for working out and that's all I've bought in almost a year. I buy clothes once every 3 years or so. Now that I'm losing some weight, that will change, but only when it ABSOLUTELY has to. I can't afford a whole new wardrobe. It'll be seconds and taking things in for a while.

My shoes have holes in the soles now. It is very unpleasant stepping in a puddle of water. Maybe I should marry a princess?

You males have it much easier. You can wear the same suit, the same tux, etc., and no one will say a word about it. Women in public life are criticized for wearing the same thing twice, as Kate has done.

Well maybe people should mind their own business. It's HER money. It's not like she doesn't do her bit for other people.

Nobody's going to mind their business. She's a celebrity. And she only exasperates the situation through flaunting herself socially and monetarily.

I am not jealous. She wouldn't, she and the rest of royal family are living under the ''donations'' of the people there!
I think she can work as the people does!

I agree with him, its just that a woman's priorities, when it comes to money, are different than a mans.

Yes, different, perhaps, because a man can be as reckless, vain, irresponsible and futile, as a woman with a lot of money.
I met a successful professional who has squandered all the money in the whorehouses. Now he is poor and lonely. If he was a woman, could sell his jewels, clothes...
  • Mike JayLynx 2012/06/29 04:09:26

Yeah, but look at all the times he had a smile on his face when he left the whorehouse.. I don't know of any woman wanting to smile, when forced to sell expensive jewelry. It defeats the purpose of buying it...

I hardly ever buy clothes-BUT in defense of Kate, she has to go to about 20 Royal functions a month, she is EXPECTED to look fabulous and be wearing the latest fashions.
She has a standard to maintain that is far and above anything a regular person ever has to worry over.

SHE has to have nice clothes and hats and matching jackets, shoes, bags because the entire world looks at her, and she has a royal image to maintain.

Let us compare her with let's say-Beyonce, who spends more per month on jewelry and double on clothes for herself and probably that much for her kid. Or, That skinny spice girl-she spend that in one outing as does Katie Holmes. Or, Angelina Jolie.

As ridiculous as it is, Kate AT LEAST IS real royalty and HAS to have nice clothes.

No, it isn't. That is the stability of the country. It represents the nation, it represent continuity, it is one of the last traditions that has been KEPT for hundreds of years and shows longevity and durability.

i really enjoy the monarchy of England.
  • hat man Lanikai 2012/06/27 20:17:34

So you think people are better than the rest of us because of their random birth? That we should treat them with deference because they are thought to be of a higher social class? That we should bow to them because they are covered in gold and are of 'high birth'? Because they have palaces at birth? The Kings and Queens used to be servants of the people at the creation of the ideal. They should live like their people. Over the centuries the idea has been changed.
  • Lanikai hat man 2012/06/28 13:53:09

Yes, they are born into the monarchy. That does not make them better people, it does make them special and highly placed. Those are ENGLANDS RULES.

many countries have monarchies-and God Bless them for surviving.
