Karl Lagerfeld's Cat Has Two Maids, Uses an iPad: Cute or Ridiculous?

Karl Lagerfeld really likes his cat. The 78-year-old fashion designer's nine-month-old Siamese kitty, Choupette, has two maids and even knows how to use an iPad! "She is a famous beauty," the fashion icon told Women's Wear Daily.

karl Lagergeld cat

Then, Lagerfeld continued: "She is like a kept woman. She has a strong personality. She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She doesn’t touch my food. She doesn’t want to eat on the floor. She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use an iPad. She has two personal maids, for both night and day. She is beyond spoiled."

However, one thing he won't do is design a little jacket for his cat ("I don’t like animals in human clothes"). Phew. Do you think the very rich Lagerfeld (who never had kids) lavishes too much attention on his pet? Or is it kind of cute?

If you think THIS is bad, it's nothing compared to the woman who left $3 million and her entire 8.3 million dollar estate to her DOG and only $1 million to her son after she died. The son had to sue the dog!

The cat would get along just fine without maids and iPads, but when you have more money than sense, this is what you end up with.

Hey, he is rich, eccentric and has money to spare. Think about the two jobs he just created because he decided to have a kitten and he does not have to scoop the litter box.

If I were that rich, and my cat wasn't so fat and ugly, I would get it four personal maids! Why not? I'm pretty sure he's got cash to spare on an adorable little cat.

Oh and I would like to add that as a cat lover, it is cute, just not something I would do because the ridiculous factor outweighs the cute factor.

Yes it's ridiculous, pompous, arrogant and hard to believe....If it's truthful - just becasue he said it doesn't mean it's true, the maids are most likely there anyway. With that the man is employing two people that may otherwise be out of work....BUT the real question is: Is he a capitalist or a socialist?

I think Karl went WAY overboard with the diet and its affected his brain. I have tremendous respect or him as a photographer and as a designer but he's completely out of touch.

BTW- I REALLY like my cat too-she has no interest in an iPad.

Cats treat everyone else as their servants anyway, so it doesn't really make that much of a difference.

Well, yeah, it is a tad ridiculous but until good ol' karl comes a knocking at my door, asking me for money, he can do whatever his little old senile heart desires and it does not affect me one tiny bit.

Sure it's ridiculous, but it's not like it's hurting anyone. And with it being harmless, it's cute in its own way. The cat knowing how to use an iPad makes it a very smart cat. Being able to cater to the whims of the cat make sure it's pampered and kept healthy.

All pet owners cater to their pets and try to spoil them, in their own way. The only difference here is that this guy can actually afford to do it.

The only concern I have is with the maids. Are they alright waiting on the call of a cat?
  • mm61675 boltfox20 2012/10/23 16:52:40 (edited)

of course they are! They are paid a LOT of money to watch a cat. Cats sleep like 15 hours a day.......Hell, I would be the cat's maid

I understand Karl's love for his cat. Two maids is a tad excessive, but I sure wish I had a person to take care of cleaning my cats' litterboxes so I didn't have to!

Spoiling an animal is much nicer than spoiling a child. But if he loves cats so much, his money would be better spent on looking after all the sick, abandoned cats that he could save from being killed in and abused in cat farms etc
