Johnny Depp Wears Blue Nail Polish: Great or Girlie?

Johnny Depp has never been one to play by the rules -- and that includes the fashion rules. The still-sexy-at-48 actor wore blue nail polish to premiere of his new movie, "Rum Diary," in New York this week, USA Today reports.

And yep, the polish does match his shirt and handkerchief, so Johnny Depp totally planned it:

Depp has been pushing the envelope in more ways than one. After "The Rum Diary" premiere, he reportedly rocked out with his JD Band (did you know he had a band?) and his "Pirates of the Caribbean" muse, Keith Richards.

But back to the nail polish, it really doesn't seem to be just for the ladies anymore. Seal, Dean McDermott and Prince Harry have all painted their nails. Seems like the new rule is that as long as it's not pink, it's actually kind of edgy and bad boy-ish. What do you think? Do you like nail polish on men? Or should guys stick with natural nails (as long as they're clean and clipped short)?

Our verdict: Between the rings, the beret, the sunglasses, the necklaces and the awesome shirt-suit combo, Depp is total rock star -- and might just be our new fashion muse.

great, really great<3 lol....now if it was just some regular dude, I really wouldn't care, and I don't see why anyone else should too. THEY ARE JUST NAILS PEOPLE! It's not like they're what make a person, they aren't important. Just let people express themselves, and not conform to the ideal expectations of how a "normal" person should look like. I admire him for doing that without caring what people think about it. that's what makes a real man .:)

In the early 80s, it was also deemed 'girly' for guys to get their ears pierced. Now, that's so common it's practically unnoticeable. In time, the uproar over this too will be so diminished as to make it a laughable commentary on what is a socially acceptable expression of personal fashion tastes.

Johnny Depp can do whatever he wants and he still looks totally awesome and totally hot. If they're trying to get more guys to wear colored nail polish then putting it on Johnny Depp is just what you need to get the ball rolling. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw more guys wearing blue nail polish just cuz of this. He could even wear a hot pink jumpsuit and I'm sure everyone would still find it sexy. He's Johnny Depp, he can do whatever he wants and we'll love it.

i dont understand whats the big deal. Nail Polish isnt made only for women. and the only thing that can make a guy gay is if he likes other guys not how he dresses.

Hey, it matched his outfit. U gotta give him points for that! Johnny looks good no matter wat! & there are lots of guys that wear nail polish. & Johnny has always been unique. Wat's the big deal? People are just talking about it, bcuz of his age. Just cuz u get older ur style doesn't have change! lol, I'm gonna be just like him. When I'm 48, I'll still be wearin black leather jackets with buckles, & have blue high lights hahaha. Do yo thing Johnny, always be u. That's why we love u!! ^_^
