Some individuals would argue that competitive eating is wasteful and may have adverse health issues for participants. On the other side, the amount of food wasted is minimal compared to what one U.S. family throws out on a daily basis. Further, some would say that competitive eating is purely for entertainment and is a tradition that has been carried on for years. Do you think competitive eating is OK? Or should it be banned due to health issues and waste?

just in case someone gets offended by the word "subculture," it merely means an off-shoot from the main culture. You have to admit, it's not common for all of to train for or participate in an eating contest on a regular basis. That's kind of like the whole "this isn't my day-job" kind of thing...
The more you eat, the more poison in your system. Eat to much and you die.
The one that can eat the most without dying from the poison wins.
That would be a real test of courage.
