Jesus told us how to treat our enemies, do you agree with Jesus?

Luke 6:27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also.
Romans 12 “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Wish good for those who harm you; wish them well and do not curse them.
Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
luke 9:54Lord, do You wish us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them? But He turned and rebuked and severely censured them. Jesus said, You do not know of what sort of spirit influences you, For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them
Ephesians 4:30 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
John14;27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

morning40oz~mad as hell 2012/06/22 14:25:52Yes+6You are going to get a lot of answers stating yes. Ironically, though, many, MANY, will gladly applaud war with Iran as they have every other war in their lifetimes, ironically making the claim these things are done in the name of peace.

And Jesus put it back on.
"Put away your sword," Jesus told him. "Those who use the sword will die by the sword."
Matthew 26:52
Why would Jesus allow them to have the swords when in the end He tells them to not use them for life's sake? ..... was this a message of peace?
In another passage Jesus told soldiers to be satisfied with their wages, but didn't tell them to find another job.
Face physical danger with physical defense, and spiritual danger with spiritual defense, is how I see it.
To live by the sword is to be seeking conflict, not defending against it.
What do wages have to do with this?
Jesus told Soldiers to do no violence to any man, but didn't tell them to find other work. The only way to reconcile this is to realise he was telling them to be honest men, not pacifist. No agent of the Government should abuse his (her) office, but be honest in their duty.
There is no record of any weapon being taken from any apostle. Beyond what is written I don't know, nor do I guess. Show me where any other action is given.
Then arrested Jesus.... even after he healed the ear.
I am sure they got to keep the swords.... or even wanted it after what Jesus said. lol!
Why not?
Love others as yourself.... you could o no harm against anyone if you loved others as yourself.
For whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:8-10
The Bible cannot be taken literally, because there are obvious scientific mistakes. It is the observations of men thousands of years ago, of course when they saw the moon they didn't realize it was not emitting light, but only reflecting it. Personally, I believe the Bible is a beautiful piece of literature. It is just like any other book: it has moral themes, and inspiring lines.
And, just like any other book, there are some parts people like, love, agree with, and uphold.
But people will always misconstrue things.
Is that okay to assume? Just wondering.
The New Testament is very nice. To put it simply. There are no messages of hate, it's the opposite.
