Jessica Alba's Husband Wears Pink Polish, Seal Wears Yellow: Should Guys Wear Nail Polish?

Jessica Alba got herself decked out for Fashion Week ... and so did her husband, film producer Cash Warren. The Daily Mail spotted hot pink nail polish on Mr. Jessica Alba's fingernails. Well, he was going to a fashion show ... and he had to find some way to stand out as the photogs went crazy for his stylish wife.

But Cash isn't the only dude rocking nail polish lately (and we're not talking about basic black, either). Heidi Klum's ex Seal was spotted in an airport in Australia Wednesday wearing neon yellow nail polish -- and no ring, The New York Daily News reports.

And last fall, USA Today noted the blue nail polish Johnny Depp wore to the premiere of his movie, "Rum Diary" -- which just so happened to match his shirt and handkerchief. We're not going to call this a "metrosexual" trend, because that term feels so dated.

But it does seem like fashion-forward guys are finally embracing nail polish -- and even, ironically, managing to look more manly as a result. Our only concern ... looks like there's going to be a much longer wait at the nail salon. Do you think guys should wear nail polish? Or does it look too "girlie" for your taste?

It is their choice and I don't want to get into their lives if they choose to wear nail polish.

If you feel you must, if you are gay, if your girlfriends insist, then go ahead. However, prepare for it to chip when doing mechanic's or carpenter's work. Hey! Live it like you see it!!!!

who cares? It's their choice. If they want to, why not? If they don't, that's fine too. And think about this: almost all of women's fashion, were originally for men back around the 1400s

God forbid men start *gasp* PAINTING THEIR NAILS LIKE DEM WOMENFOLK. NEXT THING YOU KNOW THEY'LL WANT TO WEAR TAMPONS

I'll never understand why people feel the need to get so heated about these things.

Why the hell not? There are at least two brands that make nail polish specifically for men. I don't think neon lemon is seal's best color, but I honestly don't mind it

It's a matter of personal choice. If wearing nail polish is something another man wants to do who am I to say if he should or shouldn't.

I'm only for guys wearing black polish. Well, only some guys. A few years ago my bf's dad started going through some kind of midlife crisis and started painting his nails black and going to goth clubs. It didn't work. If guys want to start wearing pink and yellow and whatever, that is entirely their choice, but I would be curious to see how many women would find it attractive.

Men wearing nail polish is very much like men wearing earrings, and tattoos, but it is much less permanent and it is fun and expressive because you can easily change it. It is important to remember that most high-fashion was invented by men and was worn by men in the days of our forefathers. This conversation about men wearing nail polish reminds me of the conversation in the 70′s regarding men wearing earrings which is now quite commonplace with even many NFL players wearing earrings. Men have very limited forms of self expression. On the other hand, women have been borrowing from men’s fashion for years. Additionally, when a man adopts an item from women’s fashion, a lot of folks immediately cry foul. Why the double standard? Fashion is fun and should be enjoyed by everyone and a person’s sexuality should not be judged because of their fashion choice as they are usually not related. Please look at men wearing nail polish with an open-mind. Women have been adopting from men’s fashion for many years and now men are beginning to reciprocate because many men are tired of the fashion prison that has been created for them. These men should be respected for being bold enough to try a fashion that was typically associated with women. I do agree with you that men’s nail polish is not...

These men should be respected for being bold enough to try a fashion that was typically associated with women. I do agree with you that men’s nail polish is not needed and also believe that men should not be limited regarding colors. If we insist on imposing limits on men’s expression, then maybe women should also go back to the days of June Cleaver and dress very feminine at all times by wearing high-heels and frilly dresses rather than items adopted from male fashion such as men’s shirts, masculine clunky boots, pants, blue jeans, men’s underwear (they call them boy shorts), men’s watches, and the list goes on and on. It is disrespectful and absurd to impose gender limitations on self expression. Please open your minds rather than being judgmental. Respectfully, Jamie

I couldnt agree more. The only reason the idea may be discarded is because nail polish is a thing society or American culture-which is in itself a complete mixture of other cultures- has associated with women.

No, actually it's very attractive, and I don't think any one of them would much appreciate you calling a kilt a "mini skirt". That's not only making fun of their manhood but also their culture and history. Way to go !

I thought you were trying to make me look ignorant by insinuating that I would put a kilt and a miniskirt in the same category. :) Sorry, I didn't get it like you meant it ! I was actually talking about a woman style mini skirt. I actually love all things Scottish including men in kilts !

A real man will never dress like a woman unless he is having some kind a mental breakdown.
The other reason for a man wearing nail polish would be mental illness.

The male clerk at the local 7-11 wears black fingernail polish. EWWW

I was at McDonald's having breakfast recently and a guy came in wearing flip flops (on a cold, rainy, western Washington morning), and I noticed that his toenails were painted a bright red. I almost tossed my cookies right there, but I figured he had lost a bet.

Seriously, who cares? Personally, I prefer no nail polish on men or women. If a person is going to bother with it, it should at least be something flattering on them. While I can't see a burly lumberjack wearing polish seriously, a modern man who's into fashion would look fine with it. It's all about place and time.
