JCPenney's Will Now Have In-Store Barber Shops and More: Do You Shop at the Department Store?

If you've been in a JCPenney's department store in the past couple years, you may have noticed that it's changed a bit since you shopped your last "back to school" sale. Month-long sales have come and gone, Sephora stores have popped up in the big department stores, and Project Runway's Nina Garcia joined the team, all in hopes of bringing the chain back to profitability.

After undergoing subtle changes and various pricing strategies, JC Penney's is about to be completely revamped and turned into a department store comprised of small boutiques. Included in these boutiques will be their own Arizona Jean Co, a Betsey Johnson shop, a denim bar, in-store barber shops and much more. Each boutique will have a different aesthetic, and you'll be able to check out using an iPad.

These changes will be made in August and to celebrate, JC Penney's is giving free haircuts to kindergartners and grade school students all next month. I haven't been to a JCPenney's in a long time, but now I'm actually excited to check it out. Are you?

It seems like bringing Nina Garcia onboard was just the beginning. As another part of JCPenney´s renovation, Ron Johnson, the company´s CEO, will be putting boutiques, shops and stores inside the larger shopping space.

Stopped shopping at JC Penny based on their support of destruction of family, marriage, and faith. It really doesn't matter what they do now I have stopped my spending in their stores.

JCP has had Hair and Nail salons for years. This boutique "concept" is nothing new for them. They did it all through the 1940's, 50's, 60's, and 70's. Then they got cheap and got rid of most of them.

Certainly, there are no stores in Australia but beyond that, J.C. Penny became an adversary with the 'Modern Family' issue & will never acquire our support until a 'Chik-Fil-A' announcement & public apology for supporting 'alternative' lifestyles! As Andrew Dice Clay might say, "I gotcher lifestyle right here!'

I've been shopping at JCPenney's since my mom used to take me there when I was a child. I love Penney's and they have had a hair salon there for 30 years, so I guess a barbershop is a good idea too.

old navy for hoodies, ae for jeans, target for shirts and cargos and gap for sweaters...
only time i ever go to jcpenney is when I'm not driving. dept stores make me nervous and i don't like the smell. (oversized perfume counters) That and I pretty much stick to clearance racks. Anything else to me is just a waste of money seeing I'm done growing.

J.C. Penny has come out recently in support of political causes I oppose. When a store or manufacturer does that, they are taking a risk that they will lose customers. It would be better if they remained apolitical and neutral. Since they don't want my money, they won't get it.
