Morning is long over, but it's never too late for pancakes! Today, in honor of National Pancake Day, IHOP wants you to leave a donation for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other charities in exchange for a free short stack of Buttermilk pancakes, The New York Daily News reports. Anything for pancakes!
National Pancake Day has been celebrated annually since 2006 -- much to the delight of Pee-wee Herman, who tweeted a photo of several stacks of pancakes. New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco also tweeted that he was staying within his "3 pancake limit" (and donating $1,000 to charity).
It's hard not to love pancakes. They're light, they're fluffy, they taste even better when drowned in maple syrup and they go with any number of toppings. Personally, we're partial to blueberry, but chocolate chip pancakes are delicious too. Adding bananas and nuts to the mix also makes us feel a little less guilty about the calories. Favourite pancakes on pancake day are lemon & sugar or ham, cheese & sweet pickle
