Politicians are a direct reflection of those that elect them...

Therein lies part of the problem in addition to the graft system.

We the people need to take a large part of the blame for voting or not voting for politicians without doing our own research. We are lazy.

No. It isn't always either the government's fault, Obama's fault, or the foreigners' fault. Sometimes we Americans are actually to blame for our own problems.

I think it was partially the "Gotta Have It, Gotta Have it Now, At any expense" attitude that brought us here and greed.

I think people who are insecure in their values, must assign blame when something goes haywire.

...we have gotten what we deserve in those we've elected. The last statesman in the White House was Truman. If we'll vote for honesty instead of ideology that confirms us, perhaps some day we'll again elect a statesman. Am not holding my breath waiting.

Its a big loop. As an American you're supposed to have a bunch of possessions, and if you don't have them there is something wrong with you. You shouldn't have to work too hard, but you should have everything you want. This can only result is people living outside of their means, and that's what happened. Americans think they inherently deserve everything.

No, it is our fault too -- we seem to be in an era of 'I want" being confused with 'I need" and demanding that all our 'wants' be fulfilled and then complaining. The mess can be corrected by cutting the 'nice but not necessary' stuff and get back on the path to fiscal sanity - government should never be mummy and dada; it should be small, efficient and there for the limited powers granted by the Constitution.

Big money is ultimately responsible, having a price makes the members of the government responsible, having an inflexible ideology makes many citizens responsible. greed makes many more of us responsible.

Freedom does not come without a price, but abusing freedom is.....overspending....and costing us all. No, the government is NOT 100% responsible, we are all contributing our fair share....finally, and bankrupting ourselves AS a country! What's that old song? "Come together...right NOW!"

Yes, because they over promises, One thing was to tell banks to give loans but those loans should be for what they could afford and what they wanted to live in.
Government over spent, they enjoyed when everybody was working, they would spend like no tomorrow, but they need to slow down, Government is spending out of control.

No single person or group is 100% responsible, but the government does have a lot of responsibility here.

Nothing and nobody is ever 100% to blame for anything, I don't suppose, but at least the federal government has been blowing things pretty bad for about 50 years or so. I'd say maybe 40% of Americas most serious problems are results of the bad decisions of a deeply overstepping Federal Government. Then about 40% Corporate Greed, (aided and abetted by the Federal Government), and about 15% American consumerism, materialism, and gullibility. About 90% of all of the above can be at least tangentially be attributed to all of us drifting away from God, and turning to government and corporations for virtually everything. My opinion.

we all need to share the blame, especially those who live above their means..who get credit with no intention of paying..those who bought home they could never pay for and those that allowed them too. Many need to throw away credit cards

Hi SJ. I think the government liberals have been taking us here for the past 100+ years and their not done. The liberal so-called 'Christian church' has enabled much of it. Still, the gvmnt Is Too Big. Much of it has to be chopped back and burned so that the majority will be able to recognize and prefer 'freedom' once again..
