Nope, never did and my mom was Mexican. I'll just cook Mexican food when the urge to eat it strikes me.
Cinco De Mayo isn't even Mexican Independence day, it's just the battle of Puebla against the French. It started to become a big deal since the 1990s for something else to sell beer and stuff by retailers. That's IMHO.

Did you know that they don't really celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Mexico? Our cab driver there said that it was when the French either came or went from Mexico, and we in America celebrate it more than they do. We just thought that was hysterical.
