I DO celebrate Mexican holidays. (I am an American of Mexican descent.) I never have celebrated 5 de Mayo though. It's not even celebrated by nearly anybody in Mexico. Thanks, but I'll stick to American holidays and actual Mexican holidays like the Day of the Dead.

I think it should be cancelled in the USA. It's not an American holiday. Let them party in their homes or in Mexico. Don't close-up my streets with Mexican flags and crap. We would not get away with that sht in Mexico so why should they in America?

We Mexicans don't even celebrate it for the most part. The only people my mother says actually celebrate it in Mexico are the residents of Puebla an ignorant American tourists.

One thing I think is cool is the party for girls becoming of age. Can't remember the name. But she vts to be princess for the day. Been to a few of them and its a great party.

Oh shoot I missed it. Funny how I never forget Memorial Day or 4th of July. Hmmm....Does that tell you something? I love being an American rather than a Mexican American or an African American or an Italian American or a Polish American or an Asian american....and the list goes on.

Now I think I'll go pop open a Bud Lite.

I have never figured out how or why the celebration of winning one small battle in one Mexican state is of any importance to anyone but the residents of that one Mexican state, Puebla. Here in my state, they have managed to stretch it out for two weeks now.

No, Cinco (5) de (day) Mayo (May), 5th day of May. That was the date that 4,000 poorly equipped Mexican soldiers beat an invading force of French (thought to have been the best military under Napoleon III in the world at that time) troops numbering 8,000 at fort Puebla and fort Loreto in Pueblo State. Many think, here in the US that is the date of Mexican Independence, but that is September 16th.
