The best shopping is done after blk friday at specifically well chosen locations. because they become over stocked and practically give items away.

I didn't go shopping, but I did go to Wal-Mart during Black Friday with my boyfriend, so we could watch people get in fights.(:

I did! It's a tradition to go with my mom and my two best friends. The stores weren't even that crowded. The lines at a few stores were long, but, they went fast. No injuries or anything else bad happened. :D

I wouldn't be caught dead out shopping today! And I highly resent stores opening on Thanksgiving Day. I have to sympathize with the Walmart picketers who, in general, aren't paid enough to leave their families and/or friends to work because the giant says so. It is retail madness and while I am aware that retailers are in make-it-or-break-it-mode, this is a bit too far. Scale back guys...enjoy the season...This is a week longer for shopping than most years. I get the greed but I can't go along with it.

And it is the likes of you who make it hard for workers to enjoy the day off with friends and family. Because you WILL means the retailers will force people to work whether they want to or not. Doncha feel a bit guilty adding to this mayhem? Just think about it!

BTW, I wish that we could have a "Black Sunday" where "Patrons" could be sleeping overnight in front of the Church all night Saturday Night so that they could go to Church Sunday Morning when the Mass Started . . . That would be cool. No plastic and no check-out . . Just drop a Dollar in the Offering Pot and then the last Offering, just drop Two-Dollars for Father. You would not have to deal with products manufactured in Red China, or Standing-in-Line, except to Receive Holy Communion . . .

I'd rather stick needles in my eyes or have a root canal without anesthesia or drink hemlock than go shopping at ANY store on Black Friday. I've participated in this insanity in the past, and it was sheer torture. I'm currently boycotting Walmart for making their employees work on Thanksgiving Day to prepare for Black Friday, but they weren't the only company who was doing this. Since when did Black FRIDAY become Black THURSDAY? Christmas seems to come earlier with each passing year, with businesses putting out their Christmas decorations and holiday-themed merchandise and displays right after Labor Day in September. Jeez, by the time December 25th rolls around, many of us are sick to death of Christmas and are happy to see the holidays come and go. That's not very festive, right? Most businesses tap into the good old American greed for which our country and its people are known. Nowadays, people take the "Christ" out of "Christmas," almost completely forgetting about the religious meaning. Hell, we can't even say "Merry Christmas" to others anymore [although I still do], for fear of offending those who don't celebrate the season for the same reason and in the same way Christians do. I don't fault anybody for shopping on Black Friday to get the best bang for their gift-giving ...

I would hope, however, that the people immersed in the frantic days of the holiday season -- the shopping, the decorating, the parties, the baking, the gift-wrapping, the drinking, etc. -- don't allow those activities to overshadow the reason we celebrate on December 25th. We should take a moment, while spending time enjoying the season's traditions with our family and friends, to reflect on the true meaning of the Christmas spirit -- The celebration of Christ's birth.

When I was growing up, Black Friday was Good Friday, three days before Easter. We dare not shop on Good Friday either...it was a day to spend in Church or at least thinking about it.

Yes, I'm a Catholic, and we've also considered Good Friday to be "Black Friday." Coining the term "Black Friday" as the day of shopping hell after Thanksgiving Day is just one more example of corporate greed run amok. Put a slogan on something, and they will come.

I've always thought the hype over shopping on Black Friday was overrated, and now it's much worse than it ever was, with people getting trampled and what the store employees are put through. The day after Thanksgivings, I just want to rest and recover after spending the last day and a half in the kitchen, baking and cooking! It's a movie marathon day for me, if anything.

I'm done with my shopping. True, I could have saved money if I went today but It would have wasted time, energy and Patience. All 3 I consider valued commodities.
