Very easly. Along with my high cheek bones and black hair I found myself being treated differently from others (whites) because they thought I was part indian.
Funny thing was after my mother died I found out I had two Cherokee's in my direct line on my mothers side.

I absorb sun... olive skinned so I never use sunscreen, and I feel that the fear of skin cancer has been over hyped. I think our bodies are resilient enough that a day in the sun will be fine, unless you have a rare disease that makes you allergic to UV rays or are albino- staying away from the sun completely is unhealthy.

Well for us pasty skinned people of northern European descent, we were born with a genetic sensitivity to UV rays - epidermal melanin deficiency. Our genes were selected to maximize Vitamin D production in the cool, overcast climate of the northern latitudes.I don't have cancer but I do have permanent damage to the skin on my shoulders and back from some severe sunburns I got as a child before sunscreen became popular. In those days, people used "tanning lotion" and the wisdom of the day was that you needed to get a mild sunburn as a base to build up a tan..

I burn more easily than I tan. I am quite pale so it's not a long time before I go from pale to red. I tend to go a bit crazy with sunscreen and don't go outside a heck of a lot anyway. Even when I do I don't stay out very long because I don't want to burn up.

I used to. Now I do the smart thing and avoid getting that much sun exposure.

There is no such thing as a safe tan. If your skin changes color after sun exposure (beyond a light temporary shift that goes away within a few hours) that is a sign of skin damage. The same holds true whether the exposure is to the Sun or a tanning lamp.

I have been burnt really bad in the past,so I use the tanning bed and that helps a little but the sun is way more powerfull.

I hardly tan at all. I'm rather pale and I do tan a little easier than when I was younger, but I'd have to sit in the sun for three days straight.

I can get dark if I do it gradually, but I can also burn under some conditions. I try to be very careful, especially after my back was fried while snorkelling in Thailand a few years ago. OUCH!
