Sometimes I think the world has changed too much and on the other hand I think it hasn't changed enough! It's supposed to be so "futuristic" by now, where are the Hover Cars, moving sidewalks, the Colonies on Mars??!!
I agree, of course. But I think it is even MORE amazing how much it has changed in just this early part of the millennium. I had great confidence in the world moving forward, then the TEA Party came along. My confidence has since waned. All of a sudden we have a resurgence of racism, a country that is for sale to the highest bidder, A Presidential candidate who says he'll take no crap from anyone who wont follow Conservative directives (read, no diplomacy), rejection of scientific fact (unless it follows Christian Conservative guidelines), highly restrictive rules for women and their bodies, (and visual inspection when deemed necessary by the conservative "elite"), destruction of the "bothersome" EPA, I mean, what do we care about clean air and water?? Paying teachers costs too much, Health care should only be for those who can afford it, Bankers like Dimon and Diamond should have no regulations to slow down the money they can make I mean, Jeez, they may even create a job (or two).
Yeah, I looked forward with a lot of hope for the future, then, I saw this dog on the roof of a car....
No, but without thoughts, you don't get "things", and the wrong thoughts destroy, or prevent, many good things. Going backwards is the thought that will prevent many good things from happening and there are too many in America that want to go backward.
"A conservative is a [person] with two perfectly good legs that has never taken one step forward." FDR Revoke healthcare, racial equality, SS, voting rights, etc.,etc. ALL steps backwards!
"A conservative is a [person] with two perfectly good legs that has never taken one step forward." ..Only problem with this comment is that it is wrong. That is the left attempting to demonize conservatives by using a very restrictive definition of conserve. As an example that disproves your statement without the GOP there would be no Civil Rights.
No one wants to; "Revoke healthcare, racial equality, SS, voting rights, etc.,etc". Also clearly not true since the GOP worked since inception for Civil Rights.
It's a little disintegrous to compare the republican party of today with the republican party of the 1960's. You are totally ignoring the takeover of the party by the extreme right. The "Rockefeller republicans" have been drummed out of the party. For example it was Richard Nixon who expanded The National Endowment for the Arts into a major source of funding for the arts throughout America. The current republican party has done everything within their power to dismantle and get rid of it.
Just because some politician started something does not mean it is a valid power of the Government. The Constitution is very clear on what the powers of Congress are. Much of what the Government does is outside its scope of power. We are SUPPOSED to have a limited Government, not an all intrusive mommy & daddy called Government.
Well that went right over your head. I was trying to point out to you that the republican party of today is not the same party that voted for civil rights in the sixties. Of course that did not set well of your rosy view of how wonderful and compassionate the republicans and conservatives are so you ignored it and tried to make like support of the National Endowment of the Arts means you support the nanny state. So let me ask you are you equally strident in your condemnation of the republicans and conservatives when they pass laws limiting things like granting equal marriage rights to gays?
"Of course that did not set well of your rosy view of how wonderful and compassionate the republicans and conservatives are so you ignored it" ..Because that route leads to a non productive "uh huh", "uh-uh". Prefer not to go there. The real issue is the Government has gone way beyond its authority.
"equally strident in your condemnation of the republicans and conservatives when they pass laws limiting things like granting equal marriage rights to gays" ..the Government has no business involving itself in marriage. Marriage is a social contract.
You can say no one wants to revoke healthcare, racial equality, voting rights, womens rights, SS, Medicare... etc. ...with a straight face??
That conservative idiot in Pennsylvania who said...."voting rights bill that will get Romney elected...DONE! The Quote above was from FDR, since then things have changed...FOR THE WORSE!
"You can say no one wants to revoke healthcare, racial equality, voting rights, womens rights, SS, Medicare... etc. ...with a straight face" ..Because it is true! The rest of your comment is gibberish.
Yes, it is amazing. They say that when you purchase a new computer and take it home, it is outdated by the time you get it out of the box. Unfortunately mankind does not advance at the same pace.
