We are very blessed that my hubby has a solid job right now but as a family of four (sometimes 4-7 depending if we have foster kids here) I am pretty tight between gas and food.....which always seem to go up.
I know SO many families without work right now or are under employed just scrapping by. This one family just got kicked out of their house for lack of electricity and are being forclosed on......and got kicked out of their chairty paid hotel room(the kids were to loud) AND their dog got taken by the pound AND her care broke down...AND they has no oney for gas let alone food. She makes sure the kids get to school so they can eat free am and lunch because they have nothing for dinner.
I know so many headed that direction......what happened to change I wonder and I wonder who will be paying for all the new REQUIRED stuff? I only know one person that is for all that "change" and it's a very wealthy liberal couple who have no clue how much food costs...

Do you know people who are forgoing food because they have no money? Or are you one? How do you make it work?

From my own personal experience, once Obama got elected everything went right in the toilet. He ruined the economy, ruined the trucking industry with a huge number of new regulations, created more money which devalued the dollar, mandated more ethanol for fuel which made corn prices go up which in turn made food prices go up; he has allowed 1.2 million illegal immigrants compete for American jobs; he said he was going to bankrupt the coal industry and is well on his way to doing that! But he gives the Muslim Brotherhood money, sends 770 MILLION DOLLARS to Muslim countries to rebuild their mosques; steps all over and trashes the Constitution, taxes will be going up, forcing us to pay for Obamacare premiums; gives oil rich islands off Alaska to the Russians! Yeah, I could go on and on, and THAT'S THE CHANGE YOU GOT - - - HE WANTS TO RUIN AMERICA!! Wake up people, and VOTE HIM OUT IN 2012!

Cutting Back on our food is often the only way to pay for other things. And the price for gas is high, So We eat less so we can drive some where.

My husband also has a solid job but one never knows..there are only the two of us and I have started making sure we clean up on the left overs. Like you between gas and groceries its unreal..I don't know how families do it!! I don't work so I don't go anywhere unless its absolutely necessary! Then I try to make it a one trip day. Its getting bad for sure!

We eat healthy, but I choose very carefully. Everything is planned. I buy store brands, sale items in bulk and no prepared foods. Amenities are close by so I drive very little. My life is totally downsized and actually quite comfortable for me.

Sadly enough .. this has affected all I know ..
and although I am single (my children are all adults and on their own)
I'm able to keep food on my table (between gardening and very careful management of my income) ..

My nearest neighbor .. once a thriving businessman .. saw his business base shrink to nothing at all .. he's had to shut it down (more unemployed looking for jobs) as he himself is looking for employ .. and yes, he's had power shut off, and the home was foreclosed ...

(I know several families and singles who have lost homes during this past three years .. as well as business that have shuttered their doors too .. )

My biggest worry .. is the way all LEVELS of taxes have increased ..
    (and I DO Mean it .. they've all increased .. )
along with the damage done to our health care by ObamaCare ..
(that's the worst part of all this) ..
I can always increase garden size .. raise my own livestock ..
fish (and have neighbors go on the hunt for me -- since I'm now blind .. they bring me their excess fresh meat) ..

I'm glad I was so FRUGAL down through the years and paid off my home some time ago ..
it is so scary .. we can NOT afford 4 more eyars of this ..

It is only me and my animals and I have cut down so much. I eat more vegetables, fruits and less meat--I must admit that I am acutally eating more healthier. I live California and the food at the markets has doubled and sometimes trippled.

Everything is NOT roses, but I was raised by a Mother who could make meals from beans, rice, potatoes, macaroni, pasta and I have used many recipes from her.

We have cut back on others things which we can live without, but our refrigerator and shelves are always stocked. We have been blessed.

Our village's food bank has an average of 600 visits per week, yet our town population is just over 400 people.

Personally, my family is struggling as never before to make ends meet. I can't wait to start paying for the 60% Illinois tax increases, if barry gets re-elected, it'll be more of the same, concluded with a very unhappy ending for our country.

Been tight here for some time. My wife had bypass surgery last year inspite of a rather healthy diet. Now the four of us are on as fat free a diet as you can get. Which ain't cheap.

In spite of our veggie garden our budget is stretched and we are reviewing new canning practices since we are reducing salt as well.

Money is tight. Mortgage and Healthcare have both gone up in the last year. And with the price of gas these days...groceries is the only item on our budget I can cut. And for someone who loves to cook and bake...it's a hardship.

You could say that... The wife put me on a diet and there is nothing but healthy stuff in the pantry. Time to sneak off to 7-11 for my nightly Milky Way fix.

Not yet, but I think we will all have problem is things continue the way they are going. Look like we are not looking for some real change either.
