Why does this women feel the need to show her naked breast to the entire world? She might as well showed the entire body naked since she has no shame. And I believe that she will love flirting with pornography by doing it.

I wish this question had an "other" vote. IF the child pictured, has a mentally challenged issue and his doctors say he will benefit psychologically by prolonged breastfeeding (in private, of course), that's one thing. But in America, a majority of people just aren't prepared to see something like this. It's a bit way over the edge.
This mother should not have gone public with the picture and subject matter. What kind of effect will this picture have on her son when he's in middle school or high school?
Is Time magazine having a slump in sales?

I think when a kid is old enough to run up to his'her mother, pull out a nipple and start to feed, that's too old.

I believe that breastfeeding is the best way to feed your baby and that it is private. A big child with teeth does not need human breast milk for nutrition. All six of my children were breastfed and were wean around about a year. They all turned out okay. A big boy will grow up and be embarrassed that his mom had him on the cover of TIME like this.

    It isn't immoral. It's permissible.

Many of the comments here just state that the kid is "too old" to be breastfed.

The verdict would probably depend on the standards of a given society. If David Louis is right in his book 2201 Fascinating Facts, it was not unusual for mothers to breastfeed their children up to their 7th year in Medieval China.

Age 6??? They are in School---imagine the teasing a kid goes through as it is in school today---kids that age can probably go up to thir mother, pull out a nipple and start feeding---You don't see that as a poroblem? Someone commented that a kid shouldn't remember being breastfed. not consciously, anyway. that is almost Child abuse, Breastfeeding until 6

or, sounds like a mother with emotional problems, real issues, who would breatfeed her kid until 6 years old. She should get help, not inflict a kid with her problems.

When he is potty trained, sitting at the table, drinking from a cup, and eating table food with his first set of teeth - then he is too old to breast feed... The mother needs a wake up call!

They are right and breastfeeding is very healthy for a developing child, and since the most important brain developing happens in the first 5 years, its justifiable. BUT that being said, my kid got teeth and they were off the T**, nuff said! its just kinda creepy any older than a year.

The kid's pretty old, but breast feeding itself is natural and there's no reason to get up in arms over this. Every parent raises their kid the way they think is best. As long as she's not beating the child or neglecting him its no one else's business.

It is commercially wrong, but scientifically more or less correct which should not popped American society..Mother's breastfeeding to son is a sense of duty is useful in work here, but offensive in personal relations. People wish to be liked, not to be endured with patient resignation.Thank you all. God blesses America.
