We'll admit it: This super-fluffy dog is very cute. But is it worth $1.5 million?

admit super-fluffy dog cute worth 1 5

A Chinese multi-millionaire coal baron payed over $1.5 million for Big Splash, a Tibetan Mastiff guard dog considered a status symbol in China, The Telegraph reports.

Big Splash is 11 months old, 3 feet tall and weighs more than 180 pounds, according to his breeder, Lu Liang. Tibetan Mastiffs are also thought to be a pure Chinese breed (and one of the world's oldest), and are rarely found outside Tibet.

"He is a perfect specimen," Lu told the Telegraph. "He has excellent genes and will be a good breeding dog.

In other words, this puppy is more than just a pet -- it's an investment.

"The buyer told me he thought he was a good investment. As a male dog, he can be hired out to other breeders for as much as 100,000 yuan (about $15,218 dollars) a shot. He could recoup his money in just a couple of years."

But the savvy businessman buyer also appeared to be suffering from a case of puppy love.

"I could see he loved the puppy, or I would not have sold him," Lu said.

Do you think this -- or any -- dog is worth $1.5 million?

No and I'm sorry no dog is worth that much money, or any pet for that matter. Seriously to spend that much to buy a pet is just insane. Go adopt a dog or cat for like $150 max, usually less.

Personally no dog is worth that kind of money. But people disagree, and getting into their mindset I say, depends on the bloodlines.

It is only worth it to the buyer. If he has that kind of money to spend then that is his business whether he buys an oceanliner or a cuddly big funny looking dog. Who cares? Looks like he will be spending a lot on grooming to keep that hairy guy from looking like a straggly downtown dog!

Well groomed, clean-cut. The dog is great, worth the money and he didn't literally waste his money. He'll make his money back in less than 100 'rentals'.

That is not a Tibetan Mastiff. The breed actually died over a century ago. There have been attempts to recreate the breed by mixing breeds over the years, but there woudl only be replicas, post extinction. Here's my position...pay what you want for anything you want.

Not while so many dogs are being put down in shelters. People who have that kind of money to throw around should be paying into all the animal shelters to care for the idiots who try to make these dogs then just throw them away.

Obviously someone thinks it's worth $1,500,000. I sure don't. He's cute and all, but I had a very intelligent mutt who meant the world to me and he was free.

Obviously. Purebred dogs are worth a lot more than muts, and I think this dog is absolutely gorgeous! If I had all the money in the world I would definitely buy this dog for what it's worth!(:
