Is This Steve Jobs Plush Toy Cool or Kitschy?

Apple co-founder and late CEO Steve Jobs has been gone for six months, but he remains, in a sense, in the essence of his legacy. The iPhone that hangs in the pockets of tens of millions of people is practically an extension of his being. But you can't cuddle with an iPhone. Well, you can, and you can do so without fear of breaking it, thanks to Jobs, but it probably wouldn't be all that comforting. If you want to cuddle the Apple Man, you'll have to get an iCEO.

Throwboy Pillows announced a 15-inch plush Steve Jobs toy on Wednesday. Unfortunately, like Apple products, the toy is a bit on the pricey side. Unlike Apple products, it's also being made in very limited quantities. The plush company has only made 1,200 of the items, and they're currently going for $60 on pre-order, set to ship in August. And in case you find it a little irreverent, the creators have promised to donate 10 percent of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society. Do you want a Steve Jobs plush pillow?

And scary looking. Good way to frighten a child, if that is the creators' intention.

It doesn't fit the definition of "kitsch". It isn't a sentimental appeal to the masses, nor does it pretend to be "art". And, while it certainly is tasteless, I want one...but not enough to pay $60 for it.

I'll wait until it shows up on Amazon for $12.95. He can sit on my bookshelf, along with Darwin.

Yeah, like if you wanna resell it down the road or just say you have it. But for me, I can't afford to pay that much for a pillow that I'd rather keep boxed up haha There's not really anywhere it'd fit in my room. And tbh, I think it might creep me out at nite. Especially if I used it lmao

It could have been cool, but there is something about the way they make the facial hair look, overly strong eyebrows and the 5 o clock shadow...They made him like a serial, child. killer.

Oh and what is with the creepy smile, that makes him look like, you just do not want know what he might be thinking,

How about use a word that people know and you might get more accurate results. Half these people I guarantee don't know what "kitschy" means. That's probably why they voted for it.

."Offensive might be a better word than "kitschy."
Read these two quotes by our late and great Mr. Jobs and see what you think!

"Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works. The design of the Mac wasn’t what it looked like, although that was part of it. Primarily, it was how it worked. To design something really well, you have to get it. You have to really grok [understand] what it’s all about. It takes a passionate commitment to really thoroughly understand something, chew it up, not just quickly swallow it"

    And, here is another.

"Be a yardstick of quality." This is the way to remember Steve Jobs.

Now, do you believe that this "doll" exemplifies him? Disgraceful. But, some thing will do anything for a dollar. Hope it is not well received.
