Is there anyone awake who remembers the Beach Boys

Sure I remember the beach Boys though prferred their later music such as Angel Come Home from 1979....It was a million mile drive from their earlier sun, sea and beach bum stuff.

Yeah it really was I was using the portapotties between sets and didn't realize they were for ONLY the staff. I came out just as Brain was wanting in. He wasn't nice at first called security. But when I explained I had REALLY gotten lost, (15 and drunk +) Brian and security took me to meet the rest of the band. Came back with an autographed photo of all of them. It was neat.

The question should be "is there anyone ALIVE who remembers the Beach Boys?" ;)

I had had an earlier encounter with an Ausie that got nasty with me personally about something or other I said.....that triggered bad reaction in me & caused me to spout off at your remark above.......I realize I should have shut off the PC & gone to bed, but I didn't & now you are upset with me. I have no problem with Ausies either being on Sh or voicing opinions...just like everyone else. The reference to your age was that I figured that you would surely know that they would be

At a rather young age I was given vinyl LPs, and these strange things called 8-track tapes, and an 8-track tape player (I had a phonograph). Many of the 8-tracks needed repaired, so I learned how to take them apart, how to splice tape, ultimately how to repair an 8-track.

One of the 8-track tapes I was given that worked was.......

a compilation of some of the best songs The Beach Boys has released. And ever since then The Beach Boys, and Jan and Dean, have been required summer music.

Years later of course, I ended up purchasing (on CD) a lot, if not all, of that music that was given to me as a young child. With the The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and the Rolling Stones it became my mission to collect all of their music (albums and singles) so I could finally understand the released dates, and progression of all the music I knew by them as one big body of work (a glob). It has been a most interesting thing to do, and has left me with a true appreciation for the artistic genius of some of these musicians, especially Brian Wilson.

The Beach Boys (and Motown, and CCR) are clearly American music, that could not have happened elsewhere, and we are blessed to have all of those great recordings.

Of course....they grew up not far from where I did. Headphones please...the harmony is so much better. Enjoy!
