There is always hope, SIster. Sometimes it is a matter of finding the correct treatment. Some people respond better to certain things than others. Some people have had to try unconventional methods to treat it. I know of one person who didn't have much success with doctors and drugs used to treat it, so he started investigating using meditation techniques and it helped him to get it under control quite a bit. Of course he was never cured, but it was down to a level where he could finally live his life without being plagued with the OCD. If there's an individual here who might be interested, he did Zen & Tibetan Buddhist meditation and also read Muata Ashby's books on Ancient Egyptian Yoga.

As with any mental illness, treatment is the key. A combination of therapy which teaches coping mechanisms as well as anti-anxiety meds have worked wonders for many people. With any form of anxiety/depressive disorder, most who live with it learn how to adapt in life.

I am not severe, but you gotta commit to doing what the doctor tells you to do and it does help. But then again, there are some people that I know that have it BAD and don't even try to deal with it!

As long as the person treating you has it also because they'll never give up.lol No actually I think I saw something about brain surgery that can stop it.I know they have one for chronic migraines.

Medications are helping those who suffer with this disease as can doctors who specialize in treating it.

Yes. Therapy and some medications can control it. We have a resident at my facility who has it badly. It's very disruptive not only to the person who has it, but to everyone around them. It can be devastating. I used to have a co-worker who had it so badly that they had to get rid of her. The residents didn't want to be anywhere near her. We would go in and clean a room, and she would go behind us and scrub it all again from top to bottom. We didn't that kind of time to clean that way. It was pretty upsetting to all of us.

I feel badly for anyone who has it and has it severely. It can really disrupt a person's everyday life.
