Is the death penalty ever justified if the crime did not result in a loss of life?

Crimes like those listed, the guilty needs to be locked up for life and sentenced to hard labor until they die from it. Execution would be too quick and painless for those scum.

would u still hold true if a person was tortured endlessly for days on end and not allowed to die, would u say the torturer still deserves to live because thats the law?

It's not justified period in my mind. And it's not the murder I'm concerned with. It's us protecting our innocency. We make mistakes. Therefore the death penalty should be abolished.

Touching a child, or looking at other people touching a child is unforgivable and they are unable to become productive members of society. They are a leech on our system, and they deserve to be exterminated like the roaches they are.

No pity for those that do this. Ever.

..in China, if you ruin enough people's lives by financial chicanery, they will execute you. Maybe they should try that here, considering all the Wall Street scumbags we have looking to line their pockets by destroying other peoples' lives..(get caught running a Ponzi, get toasted..).

Paedophiles - Anyone who preys on children should never be given a second chance in society as Paedophilia is not something that can be "cured".

How about be the better person and not take a life for a life as your just begin like the person who did a crime [ and yet they dont count you as a criminal ] and its playing God as well .

Better to forgive then punish unless they are someone like hitler

Why stop at only some murders? There are just as many people that deserve to die that have tried to kill or have committed other violent acts. Anyone that does not show respct for othes life shold not have their life repected. Anyone that rapes a hild should also die.

In those instances listed the life of those people have been taken away but in a way that will last them for the rest of their lives. If you think about it the victim is serving a life sentence.

That's the crux of the biscuit, right there. Can't see a highly advanced society executing its citizens. Implications too numerous to count.

As a father of a 7 month old my vision on this is cloudy. I think any extreme violations of children should be met with maximum punishment. I have no tolerance for people who would violate or torture a kid. It breaks my heart just thinking about it.

Here in MO we have a case where three individuals have been caught having repeatedly violated 3 children ranging to an age as young as 6-7 months. This isn't a crime of passion, this is a crime of deviant pre meditation. These people are sub human.

As long as the evidence is overwhelming I say do whatever you want.

Because mistakes are made and innocent people go to jail, I am not comfortable with the death penalty. There have been a few notorious people in my lifetime whom I would tend to feel should just be killed. Canada's Paul Bernardo is one. However, I think that we use jail as a punishment for crimes where the criminal is not a danger to society and there could be another type of punishment so as to free up the jails for those who should have a life sentence. I think death is letting some of these people off too easily. They should suffer more.

ouch,,, punish them more and longer by keeping them in prison ?
other than the cost ( about $ 65,000 USD ) I agree , prison is a hell hole that could be worse than the execution...

I think there are people in prison who could have a different type of punishment-work, fines etc and that would make it less costly to keep the really horrible ones there. They should be treated humanely but with no frills.

the county jail here in W. Pa.
    cabel tv to include hbo
    air conditioning
    3 square meals
    fresh linens
    a full equiped gym
basket ball court ( you know they have to have that )
to name a few things that I pay for and the reason my taxes are so high..

Sheriff Joe out west has the right idea..
the basic needs, no frills .. and they do not look forward to return to his tent jail...

Yes. I am humanitarian enough that I think they should have a clean and safe environment and be fed nutritious food-no point in deliberately jeopardizing their health. but definitely no frills-it should not be a better lifestyle than someone living on minimum wage and working two honest jobs to make ends meet.

I have voted both conservative and liberal, though a Canadian conservative is not usually as conservative as an American one. Sometimes I think it's just good to change government and one party is as bad as the next anyway. For me they will all have issues I agree with and ones I don't.

In BC, where I live we have a very conservative provincial government and yet they call themselves The Liberal Party.

some say they are conservative , but their actions show otherwise.
    and then
    some say they are liberal,

not so much what they call them selves, what their actions show is important..

LOL-or perhaps I just tilt at windmills.

I love a good debate, I am a philosophical person, and I am flirtatious in my communication style and tend to be more comfortable with men. This does get me into trouble sometimes. I love people and good conversation though I am an introvert so the internet suits me well. I can turn everybody off when I need to.

tilt at the windmill do you ehh ?
I tend to tilt to the left after a long night....

I have always been more at ease with womens, you all are soft , smell nice, tender ... umm, ummm good.. :)

turning people off is easy, turning them on is the hard thing to master.. and once the engine is running, then what ?
