No, its primal, not tribal..... We are all sexual beings. As humans we are driven to procreate on a DNA level.... it is how we guarantee the human race will continue.... and good sex is typically very primal.....
I watched a documentary about odors/cologne/perfumes and there link to attraction. In this documentary they showed an odor and attraction experiment scientist did with a large group of people.
They invited a group of people ages ranging from 20 to 35 men/women to a free viewing of some kind of movie or event. Before the people were allowed into the auditorium they sprayed female urine mixed with water in one part of the auditorium and male urine and water in the other. They instructed the group to take random seats, the result was 90% of the boys sat in the area sprayed with the female urine and about the same percentage of girls sat in the area sprayed with the male urine.
Who knows if that has anything to do with my question, but I just thought I would throw it out there.
This does have something to do with your question, there is another study on pheromones that show that women have a preference for men who have a slightly different, I think it was called histo-compatibility complex, something having to do with how the immune systems supplement each other, giving an advantage to the offspring, women found men whose immune systems were very similar to theirs less so. Exogamy protects against the consequences of inbreeding
In a way. As people below have noted, it is nearly universal, but at the same time, many people are attracted to traits and features promoted by their local culture, which is a kind of tribal characteristic. The picture of the woman with the neck rings was no doubt used to suggest that such effects of local culture are important.
It is interesting that people often attribute a more universal basis to all aspects of attraction than is justified. They ignore knowledge of the Chinese wrapped feet being much admired for centuries or the stretching of necks by rings, the constant changes of clothing fashions, or the many times and places when cultures were much more welcoming to bisexuality.

'Tribe' is a contested term due to its roots in colonial anthropological foundations and the connotations that these hierarchical definitions have. It is common practice to use alternative terms like 'ethnic group', or nation.
To save time the response was from wiki, it's not just my opinion, the word is just as loaded as native, and since sexual attraction is biologically based, use of the word tribal is symptomatic of the paranoid obsession informs many of your questions,
I always describe myself as an American
Do you refer to yourself as a tribal American? Or a native? Not a native American or an American native? Just plain native? No of course not.
Ach, it is what it is and what may be true of the group is so often not true of many many individuals... Can the individuals concerned reproduce? Then Nature is in favor, notice the way she has of making people stupid when there is even the slightest chance of procreation :)

I believe that word leans toward traditions of marriage within a certain tribe so no, if that what that word means I have to check.
