The internet is flocking to a new Tumblr page called "Rich Kids of Instagram," which is basically a tour of the good life... in picture form. The photos, set into virtual gold frames, feature mostly teens and young adults in exotic vacation spots, surrounded by the fineries of a high-end hotel room or their own lavish homes, as well as various other snapshots of a life free of financial worry.

An Atlantic Wire reporter, Rebecca Greenfield, had this to say about the Rich Kids of Instagram page. "Teens posing with helicopters they did not earn and posting photos online for others to ogle provides an easy in for commentary on the state of the American dream. (Dead.)"

the only thing ridiculous about it is that facebook paid them a billion dollars for it, but that is essentially the way money works. Billionaire social media tycoon had all this money, and more, and then gave some of it to the four of them to split. It was valued (stupidly, in my opinion) and then they were paid for it. The ridiculous part of that is the concept of getting rich quick. And I agree this kills the concept of the American Dream. Maybe, as a country, we need a NEW dream.

It's their money and their life. If they want to post pictures of their luxurious life on the internet, and all the expensive things they have, they should be free to do so without people judging them just because they're richer than most others are.

Those are thee type of rich people I do not respect at all. I strongly dislike the fact that some children have a life of hardship and others have a life of luxury... And what's worse, is that upper class children and underclass children very often turn out wrong... It's very sad...

I think it's rad because if they didnt exist it would be one less thing to make fun of in the world. It's the unpopular opinion. One day karma will probably hit them back in the face hard, and the people who earn what they have can watch and laugh at them. In a way their lives are desirable and influence normal people by giving them something to look up to and take interest in. It's undeniable, everyone wants what they can't have. At least they make the most of what they do have.

You know, good for them that they have parents that are able to afford that sort of dream lifestyle; but there's a lot better things they could be doing -- like not gloating about their frivolity, especially since they didn't earn it. They just won the genetic lottery and are wasting it. I don't even care that they're enjoying themselves, they should enjoy themselves. But to broadcast their stupidity is obnoxious. They're only doing this for the minute amount of fame it gives them. I'm not interested.

It's interesting what money can buy. God forbid people spend their money how they want. People shouldn't get upset at other people's good fortune. Don't you realize poor people in third world countries that see pictures of normal American's think we're frivolous, spoiled,and our lifestyle is ridiculous? So should we not live our lives well because others can't? If someone's dealt a good hand at life they should take full advantage of it. Normal middle class kids post things too like the used car mom and dad bought them after graduation or their new cell phone they got or a party they went to, these kids are doing the same thing but obviously it's way more interesting.

I'm middle class and I don't post photos of my new stuff to anyone. You're uneducated in stating everyone does it when there is always an exception. If you haven't earned it you don't own it. You can't seem to grasp the fact that some people work hard and others are lazy and it is insulting to these kid's parents for them to piss away cash like it doesn't mean anything. Wait for the stock market to crash again, not doubting some of these foolish people will be leaping from their mom or dad's 30 story businesd building and shouting "MY DADDY IS BROKE, I'M NOT COOL ANYMORE, THERE'S NOYHIMG TO LIVE FOR!" There is no jealousy involved. People don't enjoy stupidity is the case.

I'll repeat it since you didn't understand the first time: normal people use Instagram too, to post things like parties they go to what they're eating or drinking or new stuff they got. Never said everyone uses Instagram. I don't use instagram. And not every rich person is posting their new stuff either.

I understand people work hard and some people are lazy. Why do you automatically assume these kids are lazier than any other kid? I'm sure some of them are lazy like other poorer kids and I'm sure and some will become lawyers, bankers, doctors. It's actually a tumblr blog that got pictures off other people's instagram page. These people didn't sign up to be put up on this tumblr blog. Some guy probably thought it amusing and fascinating what the super rich buy and made the page.

No... real rich people are extreme penny pinchers and don't spoil their children or live beyond their means. I have met people with lots of money (real money stored in banks, not plastic with high interest rates or in debt) and they still shop at yardsale, live in one story homes and conserve on alot of yhings. If you want to stay rich you save it. Who knows when an emergency will arise?

But participating in a blog showing off how rich you are is extremely vain and assholish.
