Religion was never taught in my home and very seldom mentioned, yet the majority of us 5 kids are Christian.

Not Inherited,, it is taught, your geographic location will generally determine what religion you will be taught... We are all Born Atheists,, only to be indoctrinated by our local religion...

Not exactly. If it were, I would certainly be fundamentalist, evangelical Bible-thumper. However, I do believe that most people who believe, do so because they were raised to believe. In their formative years, before they learned to think for themselves, it was spoon-fed to them, in most cases.

It's all what a person believes your ideas are different from everyone including your parents. If you grow up a christian home your more likly to follow the ideas that are taught to you but that doesn't mean you inherited it. I bet not alot of people look into other religions after they learn the one that their family has taught them to maybe realize that their ideas are closer to a different religion.

Usually, as with young children, it's imposed, for right or wrong. An "authentic" person eventually chooses his philosophy. For example, my parents called themselves Christians. I call myself a philosophic Christian.

    Yes, and no.
Yes because all beings are spiritual in someway(atleast born with the sense that there is a higherpower...if they arent raised with religion, or atheism, they will probably still believe in a higherpower)

No because they arent inherently born with a organized religious moral value what so ever. Morals are taught, learned, and accepted (or not accepted)

Well that's because your the exception to the rule not the rule itself, just because extensive marijuana use doesn't adversely affect all people in the same exact way and some people can handle it doesn't mean it's safe. Religion is just like drugs some people know better than to lose control of there train of thought when entering a religion but it is self destructive to the individual and the people around them if they let religion control them instead of the other way around.

that's not what statistics say. Depending upon which country you are born in the overwhelming majority support that country's chosen religion.

Only because they were taught that religion, in some states where there is very little religious education such a Sweden the vast majority of the population describe themselves as atheist, or not belonging to any organised religion.

It is the indoctrination of children by the parents and various religions, religious belief is not a given. I was brought up in a very strict Roman Catholic household it would be unlikely that I would choose another religion, but for me atheism was and is my natural default position.

I have never been religious, it was not manifest to me. I was however forced as a child into a religion against my wishes and my better judgement.

Overwhelming majorities also support that nation's political spectrum, but that isn't because they are genetically predisposed to it, but that they are taught that it is the best system.

I don't know. I am a Native American who converted to Christianity. But my parents were both Christians. I had decided to follow my spiritual roots. But it's a long story. But I had a serious illness, a vision and healing that involved Jesus. So I converted.

Some don't really feel the need to learn new ways so they stick with what their parents teach them others do and research religion until they find what fits best with them.

Much if the time, yes. But sometimes it isn't. It all depends on the person.
