Is our political allegiance hard-wired into our brains as a neuroscientists research study trends?

bob 2012/05/07 16:16:56
Researchers have found evidence that the brains of conservatives are a different shape to those of liberals.
Self-proclaimed right-wingers had a more pronounced amygdala - a primitive part of the brain associated with emotion of fear, and flight/fight.
Those aligned to the left had thicker anterior cingulates - which is an area associated with anticipation, decision-making and scientific thought process.
Maybe we should have our politicians scanned to see their true political allegiance
Oh my GOD, if Mitt Romney got scanned, he would break the MRI scanner
Since conservatives do not believe in science, they will not accept the neuroscientists research
neuroscientists research study needs to be done on politicians
Lets do neuroscientists research on Fox News staff to prove this research
So would damage to the conservative amygdala produce a liberal
Would damage to the anterior cingulates make you lose judgement and become a conservative

Others maybe. I base my political views on the Preamble of the Constitution and the party who most represents all the values set down in the text. We the People and all that follows in it's contend. Including the parts conservatives have choose to ignor. Brainwashed by the words of those who wrote the Constitution, maybe.

Don't believe anyone is born a conservative or liberal but we all have different analytical skills and environmental factors.

Brains can be rewired, to a great extent, far greater than most can appreciate.

I believe that the belief that such things are hardwired into the brain is hardwired into the brain of neuroscientists.

You have an overdeveloped amygdala and a underdeveloped anterior cingulates; which means fears drives you and you cannot anticipate, make decisions or use the scientific process.

How do you explain people who have had no brain injury/chemical addiction who were once very conservative and over time became very liberal, or vice versa?

Political allegiances are not hardwired into our brain. That's ridiculous. :)
