From the Daily Mail:
Facebook has become such a pervasive force in modern society that increasing numbers of employers, and even some psychologists, believe people who aren't on social networking sites are 'suspicious.'
The German magazine Der Tagesspiegel went so far as to point out that accused theater shooter James Holmes and Norwegian mass murder Anders Behring Breivik have common ground in their lack of Facebook profiles.
On a more tangible level, Forbes.com reports that human resources departments across the country are becoming more wary of young job candidates who don't use the site.
The common concern among bosses is that a lack of Facebook could mean the applicant's account could be so full of red flags that it had to be deleted.
Slate.com tech reporter Farhad Manjoo wrote in an advice column that young people shouldn't date anyone who isn't on Facebook.
'If you’re of a certain age and you meet someone who you are about to go to bed with, and that person doesn’t have a Facebook page, you may be getting a false name. It could be some kind of red flag,' he says.
that Slate.com tech reporter Farhad Manjoo
is so desperate to promote FaceBook ..
that this article is written?
Seriously ..
who trusts completely .. implicitly ..
what is written behind the veil of anonymity ..
hiding behind a computer screen ..
with the numbers of those who have multiple false personas ..
trolling on FB ..
with the inane, insane content posted ..
right down to one's bodily functions and wasted photographs ..
would YOU .. as a business owner .. want THAT as your 'publicity' .. your 'face'?
I find I trust more .. those NOT heavily into
silly games .. inane postings ..
for they are REAL Enough to NOT hide behind the screen!
It is clear that the company and it's supporters are concerned with the future of the website or else they would not be fear mongering people into creating profiles so that they are not cast out of society on suspicion of being a criminal or psychopath based on their lack of data mining cooperation.
Ever since Facebook became a publicly owned company there is has been nothing but propaganda and less-than innovative tactics to try and bolster the shareholder value.
I am more wary of the people who have Facebook accounts. I don't trust their judgement nor their ability to see past the initial veil of a product or company right down to it's agenda and the motives of those behind the entity.
And they want to know everything about everyone. That is why they are now starting to spread the lie that not having your entire life open to the corporatists by joining fecesbook makes you strange, or mentally ill.
The greatest threat to freedom is not government anymore. It is corporations.
