Hipsters are known for being ironic, so it might not come as a surprise that high-end home and living connoisseur Martha Stewart is a bit of an icon to part of the community -- according to the front page article of Monday's New York Times, that is.

Though it might seem like a tight fit at first, the common interests are there. Hipsters love Etsy. Martha Stewart probably loves Etsy. Hipsters eat at gourmet food trucks. Martha Stewart probably eats at gourmet food trucks. Hipsters adore all things crafty -- and we know that Martha Stewart is all about her arts and crafts. So, there we have it: some of the many reasons why Martha Stewart and hipsters are a match made in heaven.

    A filthy rich ex-con trying to convince us she's a "homemaker" ...while bragging of spending $20000 landscaping her estate. I sincerely doubt she's washed a dish or mopped a floor in thirty years; and probably has her butler phone a tradesman to come hang a picture on the wall.

    Martha Steward is a very lucky individual who was able to completely suck in a bunch of followers after her time in jail. What she is, is a convicted felon. She was very lucky that she served her prison time at a vacation style facility. Heaven forbid she had been put into an actual cell and made to sleep on the slabs with thin mattresses like the rest of the inmate population. I am sure if I had been convicted of the same offense, I would not have served my time anywhere near the fashion that she served hers. I personally do not purchase any of her products, I am not going to support her success.

    A hipster Icon? How about a pampered and spoiled lady with a criminal record?!

    Martha Stewart went to prison for doing exactly that...

    I absolutely hated Martha Stewart before she was sent to prison. When she was sentenced, anyone with half a brain realized that she was the only one getting prison time for something everyone else was doing. That immediately told me the mainstream elite hated her and regardless of how much she tries to convince us she is one of the "in-crowd" the prison time loudly announced to all of us that she wasn't, they had placed a target on her back.

    Martha Stewart is now super awesome in my book. I don't watch her show cuz I'm not into the cooking craft thing, but in my eyes she is a total hipster.
