it really depends on what is leather and what else is being worn. Not a big fan of leather pants but jackets are good. Some leather in the bedroom is fun but I guess if I had a choice I would prefer latex in the bedroom

I think it depends on how much really. But over all I think most of the time people wearing it are trying too hard to look sexy, esp. if they're in the public eye. It's even worse on TV shows where it's like by default there has to be a woman dressed in leather. To me it just comes off as trying too hard in those situations.
Now things like a leather jacket, not so much. Usually everyday people who just like to wear leather are probably not trying too hard to look sexy.
But these is such a thing as too much. And I say this being a person who likes the leather look. But not when you're covered head to toe in it or if it looks like you're intentionally trying to look sexy. Also because eventually things stop being sexy once you see it a bunch, then it just gets boring.

what do you suggest is done with the hide after the steers are slaughtered? Thrown away. Even if you are a vegan and oppose the consumption of meat you have to recognize that the majority of the population does consume meat. So why waste the hide? Now fur is a different story and I could get on board against slaughtering for that.
You are fooling yourself if you think leather is a byproduct. Meat and leather are two entirely difference industries with cattle bred in two entirely different ways for two completely different purposes.
