McDonald’s is fighting the trademark application of Jus’ Mac, a restaurant that specializes in gourmet macaroni and cheese in Houston, Texas.

Yes, it’s that “Mac” in the name that has McDonald’s lawyers out in full force as McDonald’s spokeswoman Angelica Rosas told the Houston Chronicle, “McDonald’s considers its trademarks to be a very important asset.”

You can't get macaroni at McDonald's and you can't get a sandwich at Jus Mac.

The Jus Mac people might want to contact McDonalds Restaurant in Fairbury, Illinois. They fought the clown and the clown lost.

While its true that McDonald's has a hamburger called the Big Mac, and that is copyright protected just to McDonald's, McDonald's has to realize that Mac is also short for Macaroni as in Macaroni and Cheese. So I think Jus' Mac is fine, since that tells me that the Texas restaurant specializes in Macaroni and or other pastas.

I see zero potential for consumer confusion.

Are McDonald’s lawyers next going to sue Apple Corp. for the Macintosh?
    The Freddie Mac mortgage company?
Every shop in the UK that sells "Mac" rain wear?

Does anyone really care about McDonald's all this much?
I go there to buy food and throw it at the person I hate...simple as that, so why do I have to worry about the name all of a sudden? O_O'

Now, ifFat Macs served MAC 'n' cheese, then maybe. But they don't. And really, who, besides a lawyer for McDonald's, is going to make that assumption???

They do not own the word MAC! Otherwise a lot of people would be in BIG trouble! And it's much better used for a gourmet Mac and Cheese place :) Would LOVE to visit there!

Not unless McDonald's was trademarked before "Mac & Cheese" was ever served... I don't think so.

"Mac and cheese" has always brought the image of McDonald's to me; however, seeing a company called Jus' Mac doesn't call up an image of anything, frankly. But if they're good then they will succeed; if not, then they will fail.

Those people with names starting with 'Mc' can sue McDonald! Good luck! There's one restaurant in Malaysia called McCurry able to win the case. They deal in Indian curry food.

McDonalds has long been predatory in its trademark actions. One time they went after a Scottish restaurant that had the name 80 or 100 years before McDonalds was created.
