But he did not say one should give one's charity money to Caesar so he could claim that he was noble for giving the needy the money earned and created by others. If government is to do the work of the Christian, then why would Jesus have said one should pray in private. Logically, prayer would then be performed also in the government sector, rather than the private sector. When force is used to collect money for special interests, even including the needy, but also the green energy companies and the labor unions, charity is negated. Charity is an act of individual choice based upon one's benevolent regard for someone one wishes to help. When government takes over caring for others, dependency and robbery take the place of charity. Benevolence gives way to threat. Gratitude is replaced with arrogance and disrespect for the those who were victimized by government robbery.

That is because he knew the money would not go back to the people, Caesar is like the big corporations is now. Do you really think he would complain about using the method that will reach the most people; I don't, he would have praised it. money people caesar corporations complain method reach people praised

The Tea Party is trying to bring god into politics, even by misrepresenting this country as started as a Christian nation. How ironic is it when they call themselves Christian, yet they say it is wrong to do what Jesus told people to do. misrepresenting country christian nation ironic christian wrong jesus told people

Agreed. One reason I'm glad I'm no longer an American is the dragging of God into politics. From what we see objectively from the wilds of Africa, your country is more religiously divided than ever.

Well said. Don't forget that if things recover and something else goes wrong in the future, they'll always have the Jews to blame; as usual. I do wish Americans would get busy and put their government in prison. Some here are starting a pool. We don't use money here so when we bet, it's for "slave time". A rough bet is "slave for a day". It gets far worse than "Get me a beer"!

I wonder. Can Americans be pushed over the line and actually revolt? It HAS happened before. If one compares what the colonists had to put up with to conditions today, I think it's pretty much a toss up as to which is worse. Ignoring the quartering of troops thing of course.

Hasn't already started with the occupied wall street. Although that movement has died down for the moment, I don't think it will take too much more to bring a more massive protest if the tea party candidates wins and the members of the tea party will be the loudest of the protesters.

All grass roots movements seem to be ripe for hijacking from other factions. They throw money, and otherwise good folks catch it and toe the new line. Sad.

You could say it's the other way around. As an Atheist I think I have more respect for his "teachings" than the TEA party. I DO believe he existed, I DO believe he had great ideas, but, the "son of God"...nah. I think he married and had at least one girl child. There is much evidence of that.

The TEA party is exactly what Gandhi had in mind when he said: " I like your Christ, it's your Christians I don't like, your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

Where did Jesus ever say to do these things via government programs?

We're supposed to be charitable with our OWN money, genius. Why do liberals think that taking OTHER people's money to redistribute it is the same thing?

Just in case you didn't know it "We The People" ARE the government. They call them "representatives" for a reason. They're elected to REPRESENT the people interest who send them to Washington. Even though republicans (and a few democrats) only represent their own interest and those uber wealthy and big businesses who buy them.

And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God…

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'

FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'

FIVE: 'Honour your father and your mother.'

    SIX: 'You shall not murder.'

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

    EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'

NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

Maybe he should have added an eleventh Commandment:

Eleven: 'Though shall not hate the Tea Party nor bear false witness against them.'
