No, 9 months is only a short time and if it gives you comfort then you should wear it as long as you wish, it is a very personal decision that can only be made by the person involved. I think it is a way of keeping your husband close. God Bless you.

That's a personal decision that shouldn't be decided by anyone but the person who lost their spouse. Whether it be a week, 20 years, or even if they decide they always want to wear it. Should be up to them

There is no dedicated 'right amount of time'. Only you can know when you're ready. I know my great grandmother never took hers off and she outlived her husband by 11 years. For some people the connection is so strong that no amount of time will make them feel ok to take their ring off, and that's ok. On the other hand, I know someone who took theirs off 4 days after their wife died and was in a new relationship within 3 months (she had a long death due to cancer and they had 2.5 yrs to come to terms with what would happen and to make peace with themselves and his future).

Why would you ever need to take it off? I don't get that at all.

Well you know Jack's Pearl. I am only 31. It is conceivable that someday I could meet someone and want to remarry. I loved being married.

Of course, but my point is that you don't need to take it off if you don't want to. That's all.

In Greece widows wear black the rest of their lives to morn their husbands. Here in America we are told to "Get over it!". Every culture has their "norms". Follow your heart, and use your head, life is for the living.

Each individual should not be pressured into "getting over" their spouse. We all grieve in various ways.

You shouldn't need opinions. That is very special to you, you need to do whatever makes you happy and if remembering a past loved one makes you happy, that's all three is to that. Others opinions really don't count.

Some people were really really really really really in love!

It is OK to continue tow ear your ring.... UNTIL.. you start dating again.. THEN you should take it off!

But if you aren't dating... not a problem.

A ring is only a symbolic gesture. When ad if you're ready, take it off.

If you have sensitive skin or it annoys you then that might weigh in your decision. Maybe the ring help you remind you of your dead spouse.

You'll know when it's time to take it off. Don't worry about being politically correct. That's the last thing that should influence you.

I vote this option not only applies to this sort of thing, seems like a better idea to never really do anything until you're good and ready for it.

It shows how much you loved him, and it's very endearing. My ex-wife's grandma was sicilian, and she wore black every day after her husband passed away.

My mother has been wearing hers since my father died three years ago and I doubt she will ever take it off. You should do what gives you comfort.

There is no "right" or "wrong" in situations such as this. Everyone mourns differently, and no one else should tell them that their way of mourning is "right" or "wrong."

I played in a hockey game (I was on the women's team in college) three days after my father died. That's one way I dealt with it. Sitting out that game and just going off somewhere and wallowing wouldn't have been good for me at the time.
