Major marijuana myth: pot use use can be a cause of death. So say many anti-drug warriors, such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who recently wrote to a constituent that "marijuana and other narcotics" can lead to death.
PotleafAccording to Time magazine, "No one has ever died of THC [marijuana] poisoning, mostly because a 160-pound person would have to smoke roughly 900 joints in a sitting to reach a lethal dose."
In 1988, DEA Administrative Judge Francis Young concluded, "In order to induce death, a smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette."

Here's the good news: Fewer teens are smoking cigarettes. Here's the bad news: More of them are smoking pot. A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that only 18 percent of teens said they smoked a cigarette in the past 30 days, but 23 percent said they smoked marijuana in the same time frame.

So why are adolescents choosing pot over cigarettes? A study from the University of Michigan found that teens have gotten the message that cigarettes are bad for you, but seem to believe marijuana is less harmful.
Alcohol, however, is still teens' top drug of choice. More than 1 in 3 high school students reported current alcohol use in 2011, and 1 in 5 high school students reported binge drinking, CBS reports. Do you think it's more dangerous for teens to smoke pot? Or cigarettes?

Cigarettes are addictive to most people who use them, they are also harmful to the health of the smoker, and the more one smokes, the greater the danger of serious health issues and even dying from the use.
Alcohol damages the brain and the liver and is capable of killing a new user from alcohol poisoning.
Pot, otoh, is not addictive, does not damage one's health in any way, and even helps improve one's health by regular use, regardless how much or how often one uses the herb. It also helps open the mind to sights, sounds, sensations and other things that all too often go unnoticed to the general non-pot-using individuals. It also has been shown to help curb the use of alcohol and other, more seriously dangerous substances (both licit and illicit).
I'd much rather have my grandchildren use pot than etiher cigarettes or alcohol, just on the basis of that simple difference in the health issues.
You can't even spell "here" correctly, and you are totally wrong about cannabis causing ANY kind of cancer. I don't believe your psychology professor is "smarter than anyone [here]" tho he may be smarter than you. But just being smart does NOT make one knowledgeable, one has to research, read, and study to become knowledgeable, I have done that concerning cannabis and other herbs. Has your professor?

"While a clear increase in cancer risk was seen among cigarette smokers in the study, no such association was seen for regular cannabis users.
Even very heavy, long-term marijuana users who had smoked more than 22,000 joints over a lifetime seemed to have no greater risk than infrequent marijuana users or nonusers."

"One study performed in Germany showed that marijuana offsets certain cognitive declines in schizophrenic patients. Another study demonstrated that psychotic symptoms predict later use of marijuana, suggesting that people might turn to the plant for help rather than become ill after use."
"There is no convincing evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently impairs memory or other cognitive functions."

Cigarettes are more dangerous because they're legal and therefore easier for kids to get hold of. Marijuana does nothing but cause a euphoric state that lowers inhibitions and the worst side effects include, dry mouth, intense hunger, and a sore face the next day because I was smiling so much the night before that the muscles are sore.
